Prompt: Describe a building from the point of view of a man who just lost his only son in war. Do it without mentioning death, war, his son, or himself
The world was grey ever since that fateful day when the letter arrived. The building was shattered, lights dim as people filed in. Not a word was spoken and silence was only broken by the horrific clanking of the church's bells. Flowers were brought, tears were shed, and people hugged. All sounds were muffled by the ears of the beloved. The only thing ringing now was the sounds of gunshots in recent memory. People sat in piers or knelt in front, hoping to God this was all but an earthshaking nightmare. Light that once entered the stain-glass windows was blocked by midnight curtains.
