”So tell us, old man,” Natsu said, slurping the tea that Truthy just had given to him. The others sweat-dropped. He hadn’t even been there for five minutes and he had already called Shiro for old. “What is this monster from the request?” The team was currently sitting in the living room of the mansion, sipping tea as Shiro explained himself.
The living room was a big dark room, only lit up by the fireplace and multiple candles placed in the room. Couches circled around the fireplace in a half circle. Lucy, Natsu, Wendy and the exceeds shared
Shiro dried his mouth with silk napkin and cleared his throat. “Hai,” he replied, looking at the Truthy. “Truthy-san, would you be a dear and go get the pictures we’ve managed to take of the beast?”
A shiver went down Lucy’s spine when he put pressure on “beast”. The little lady bowed slightly, showing that she understood. Quickly she went out of the room, and Shiro turned to the team.
“So,” he said, clapping his hands together. “The beast. We have come to a conclusion, after a lot of reading, that it’s called a wererat! It’s like a werewolf, but a rat! It’s a magical creature! Literally! That’s why we put up that fence. To detect any kind of magic, and see if we could find the creature!”
“A wererat?” Erza asked skeptically, raising her one eyebrow. “Is that even a real thing? And doesn’t a werewolf only transform when it’s full moon?”
“Yes, it is a real thing,” Shiro stated, raising his index finger. “It’s one of the reasons why multiple villages in Fiore was destroyed. We knew that there were a few of them back, but we never thought that they would inhabit here.” Erza nodded firmly when he answered her questions. “And about the full moon thing; that’s werewolves. These are wererats. They could just as well be called a mutant rat, but someone gave them the name wererats for it’s werewolf-like posture.”
“I see.” Erza muttered, folding her hands as she finished her tea. Just as she said the Truthy walked in the door, a lot of pictures in her hands.
“Ah, Truthy-san,” Shiro replied, grabbing the picture Truthy handed to him. He afterwards turned the pictures to the team. The picture depicted a hunched wolf on two legs. Everything was wolf like except for the head and the claws. Actually, it just was just an oversized rat head, with some sharp teeth.
When Lucy saw looked at the pictures, she wondered what green fluid there was dripping from its teeth.
Putting the picture in his jacket pocket, he collided his hands. “So what I’m asking you to do is to get rid of it,” Shiro exclaimed, positively. “Because I fear that it will go loose in the city. Now, that we have it in the forest, we can take advantage.”
The other hesitated a bit, but Natsu clapped his hands. “Oh, come on,” he said, loudly, making the other flinch. “I don’t see anything suspicious about this. Plus, I’d rather trust someone, than regret doubting them.”
“Natsuu~” Happy gasped, crawling up on his partners shoulder. “You actually said something smart!”
“That would be the first time…” Gray mumbled, putting his hands in his pocket.
