Mama Kelly strolled into the house to see an empty living room and immediately made her way to her daughters room. "Knock knock," she called slowly opening the door. Slowly, Tori turned back while sitting on the edge of her bed to see her mother come in.
"Hey," she breathed, rubbing the sides of her growing eleven week bump. Laura dropped her purse next to her child's bed and maneuver through Sampson and his toys.
"What's wrong?" Laura asked, squatting before the singer. Tori shook her head and as tears started to pour from her ducts.
"She's pregnant, mom," Tori panted, hyperventilating into her arm for a moment, before fully sitting up and running her hand over her head. Laura took a seat on the hard wood floor as her grandson brought her blocks.
"What? When did you find out? Has she seen a doctor? Who are we talking about?" The concerned mother asked, taking the block and pulling the baby into her lap.
"Biah. She's pregnant with that monsters baby. And I talked her into keeping it. And Dré, he's going through so much. I don't even know how to—" the bedroom door opened to reveal André. Ignoring the women and child, the father sat on his side of the bed, with his back to them. Laura and Tori shared a look before Laura got off the floor and left Sammy to his toys.
"Dré," Laura softly called, moving to his side. Tori turned to watch her mother work her empathetic powers. André dropped his head and played with his fingers, trying to keep from cry. "Come here," she said, sitting next to him. The big teddy bear, laid his head in his mother-in-laws lap, letting out the emotions that had swallowed him over the past week. "Have you gotten any updates?" Laura asked, as Tori got off the bed and moved to grab a tissue for her man. André pulled off his hood and shook his head.
"Michelle went to the hospital today. They are moving him to the ICU in the morning, but he hasn't woken up. Th—they are talking about pulling the plug," André whimpered. With his father in critical condition, his youngest daughter pregnant, and his eldest daughter losing responsibility, André felt like he was at a loss.
"Do you want to pray?" Laura asked. André nodded as Tori came an knelt before him placing a couple of tissues in his hand. The three joined hands and bowed their heads as Laura led. "Dear Heavenly Father, we come to the throne asking for your protection. Protect our hearts and prepare them for whatever your will may have. We are asking you take Abiah, Micheal, Irie, Tori, André, Michelle, Vera, Jairus, Sampson, Addi, Tyler, and even these two new babies that you are blessing us with into your, hands. You see the pain and suffering they are going through, and we ask you give them the strength to conquer all. Remind them who they belong to, and show them your hand. You are a God of order and we are feeling chaos in this moment so calm them, Lord. Thank you for showing up now, then, and in the future. We love you, honor you, and adore you. In Jesus Name, Amen," Laura prayed.
"Amen," André and Tori agreed. The couple locked eyes for a moment, giving Laura the chance to grab Sampson and head down to the living room.
"We need to talk," Tori said, getting up from the floor and sitting next to her husband.
11:15 AM
Laura had gathered the kids at the kitchen table, while André and Tori were still upstairs, to lay out some new ground rules and get some things in the open. "Irie, where are your keys?" Laura asked. The twenty-one-year old pointed to the dish in the middle of the island and watched her grandmother picked them up. "They are now your father's until you can show some responsibility. Abiah, where's your phone? Yours too Brianna," Laura said, holding her hand out. The teenagers handed their devices away, then laid back in their chairs. "You two are old enough to know what is and isn't okay. Getting drunk, and being promiscuous isn't gong to get you very far. Neither of you have the drive or passion to do something that is going to get you paid without going to college, so you both better straighten out. Especially you," she pointed to Abiah. "Your about to be a mother," Laura said. Irie and Jairus whipped around to their sister in shock. "And you mister," Laura said, pulling the attention back to her, "the games go to mom at 7:30. Bed time is 8. You can't be sleeping in school. Mom told me," Laura said, as the her daughters and son-in-law came down the steps and met her in front of the table. "Give it back when they grow up," Laura said, handing off the keys and phones to the parents, and heading into the kitchen.
