3:11 PM

Abiah sat at the counter if her empty family home, working on the last of science homework, after school. With Irie at her doctors appointment, her mother in the studio, and her father at her brothers practice with the baby, Abiah was trying to power through her work.

In the middle of working, the teens phone went off from the group chat.

Talia: I just got off work and changed. Vi, do you still need a ride?
Brexton: My sister isn't getting home til late. Gia can you take me home?
Violet: Yeeaaahh. Myles car is still in the shop and Myles has my car.
Gia: Ofc. I gotchu. Are you bringing Feather?
Jack: Did I leave Lita's giraffe at your house, Vi?
Brexton: No. She's staying with Dylan.
Violet: If I see it. I'll bring it.
Loren: Ummm, Vi, did you or Jack get the homework for last class?
Talia: Loren!!! Why weren't you in class????
Gia: Biah I'll be at your house in twenty.
Abiah: I'll be ready.
Loren: I had morning sickness.....

Abiah laughed at Loren's terrible excuse and flipped her phone over to finish the back of her last page. She had been invited into the group chat and group Snapchat seamlessly and was very entertained thus far.

buzz. buzz.

Mommy

Abiah picked up her phone see her mother calling and immediately answered. "Hello?" She asked, putting the device on speaker and continuing to work.

"Hey, Bean. I'm on my way to Whole Foods. Do you want anything?" Tori asked. Abiah tapped her pencil against her chin for a second before nodding her head.

"Can you get those vegan cookie things you got last time? I liked packing this for school. And some more juices for my lunch?" She asked, remember which snacks she was out of and good on.

"Okay. And can you look in the pantry to see if Sampson has anymore yogurt melts?" Tori asked. Abiah sat her pencil down and did as she was asked. After a few minutes of searching Abiab saw no snacks of the sort.

"He doesn't. I think Daddy took the last of the packet with him to Jaurus's soccer practice," Abiah replied, taking her seat again. She heard a sigh through the phone and then a few clicks.

"Okay. Thank you. Oh and you have your bowling thing tonight, right?" Tori asked.

"Mhmm," Abiah replied, ready for her mother to veto it.

"Okay. Please be back by 9:30 at the latest. You still have school tomorrow, even if your going in late," Tori reminded. Abiah nodded with a silent sigh of relief. "And is your homework done?"

"Almost. I'm finishing right now," she said, scribbling down her final answer and throwing the paper in her binder. "Gia said she would be here in twenty, will you be home before then?" Abiah asked, packing her backpack.

"Probably, not. I have to pick up the boys from the field and follow daddy to the mechanic. Something is going on with his truck, and he wants it checked out before the weekend," Tori replied. Abiah nodded, even though her mother couldn't see her and picked her phone up.
