"Excuse me, Wilford?" A voice asked.

I looked up from the book I was reading to see a glasses-clad face staring down at me. "Yes?" I responded.

"Hello," he extended a hand. "I'm Logan."

"Hello Logan, it's nice to meet you." I grasped his hand in a firm hand shake.

"You as well. Yesterday, I noticed you finished the history pop-quiz before me, so I decided to introduce myself."

"Oh?"

"Out of curiosity, what is your GPA?"

"A four-point-oh," I reluctantly responded.

"Ah, so your going to be competing for valedictorian well?"

"Yes. I'm assuming you are too?"

"Correct. If you are as serious about that as I am, we can be allies."

Most of my energy was devoted to being the best academically. "Allies? Okay."

"If that's the case then you should come sit with the other competitors."

"Alright, that sounds like fun," I agreed.

Logan led me to a table in the far right corner of the cafeteria. Sitting there was a girl and an humanoid android .

Logan sat on the far edge of the circular table, I sat on the other.

Logan introduced the others. "Wilford, this is Google and Phoenix."

"Oopsie," The girl correct.

I raised an eyebrow.

In response, she said, "It's a silly little nickname I got in grade school. It's bizarre, but I still prefer it over my own name."

"Ah."

Logan stepped in. "So now that you're all acquainted, let's go over the history assignment one last time."

Oopsie gave a sigh while Google's demeanor brightened.

I winced. "If we're all supposed to be friends, than why don't we do something fun?"

"For example?" Logan asked.

I thought for a moment. "I brought my Switch today! And I brought Mario Kart!" I could tell I hadn't sparked anything in Logan or Google. "You can hone your minds by finding out the best strategies and methods to win."

Three sets of glimmering eyes were focused on me.

"Alright, let's have some fun!" I shrugged off my backpack to retrieve my Switch.

The first round was Oopsie and I. We cheered and cursed throughout the round, ignoring the disapproval of the others. Oopsie ended up winning, taunting me afterward.

"Wow, I've never played before now and I still beat you. Maybe you should practice a little more." She gave me a grin, her blue eyes locking on to mine.

Something about her gaze made my heart stir. "Pfft, beginners luck," I shot back, blushing.

We traded seats and watched as Logan and Google played. There was a surprise amount of trash talking from both sides. Neither of them got first, because of the notorious blue shell. Google had ended up begin in seventh place, one place before Logan.

"I want a rematch!" Logan demanded.

"Ah, not admitting defeat, are we?" Google shot back.

They began another round.

Oopsie leaned over and whispered, "Let's get outta here, once they're in competition, they don't stop." She linked arms with me and led me out of the cafeteria.

She took me to the grassy field in the front of the school. The sun was shining, and it was hot out. "Lets sit under that tree," She suggested.

Under the tree, we began talking.

I asked, "So, how'd you make friends with those guys?"

"Logan approached me. I wasn't friends with anyone else, so I decided, 'why not'?" She swept her blond-and-brown hair out of the way. "I mean, there was my sisters, but I don't want to be a burden."

"Your sisters?"

She smiled. "Oh! Of course. There's Gloria, she's a cute little freshman! Mary, the sly sophomore. Then there's me. The oldest is Poppy, the seed."

I snickered at her ridiculously well-timed pun.

She yawned, blinking a few times.

"Tired?"

"Hehehe, yah. Couldn't sleep well last night. D'you mind if I close my eyes a sec?"

"Not at all."

"If I fall asleep, will you wake me up before class?"

"Of course. Although, your putting a lot of trust in someone you just met.

"It's okay." She leaned against the tree trunk and closed her eyes. "You seem like a trustworthy guy."

Within minutes, Oopsie's breathing deepened.

Wow, I thought. She's a very peaceful sleeper. It's beautiful.

Author's note: Huuulllooo! Alright, there is a very important decision I need help making for the story's plot. Here it is: Will Chase Brody be a teen dad, or will his parents be going through a divorce? (Keep in mind these will both affect his relationship with Virgil).
