Chapter 9 Andrew

Ana acts like I don't know but I do, I know what her powers are doing to her she tries to hide it but I know, I hear her talking to herself saying things in her head, the things she thinks are mostly about Jayce and me but sometimes they're about the frost growing on her body and her dreams I shouldn't even call them dreams she dreams of super blood using her as a weapon to kill us she shakes at night I can feel it Jayce wakes her up eventually to calm her down and warm her. Jayce loves my sister. I never thought you could love someone the way he loves her. His nightmares are worse there about losing Ana it's always the same way every time. I hate it when people are so vulnerable that there like an open  book, but I guess that's what I get for being a mutant, no not mutant I hate that word I'm something else but I don't know what it is. Zinnia walks in giving me a hug. Her mind is the only mind I can't read I don't know if I just won't or if her fire keeps me from getting to her thoughts, but when Zinnia's with me I feel the same thing Jayce does with my sister. " Are you ready to go" she says her light, not her fire but her personality I hope will never be broken we walk to the forest and find the fort that I found when we came here I climb up the latter and Zinnia follows her long blonde hair blows in a gust of wind making it falls on her gold eyes. Zinnia looks around at the pictures that I hung up. Her eyes linger on a picture of my friends from the hospital. The bus accident is still fresh in my mind, my brother being drug back to the hospital and Zinnia's brother saving me. " How is that" Zinnia asks pointing to the picture of my brother.
 " That's my brother, well half brother anyway." I say putting my hands in my pockets talking about my brother hurts me knowing that he's either being tortured or killed. No not killed my mother would never kill him because she knows killing him would never be as bad as knowing that he's still alive but being tortured. 
 " Were you two close?" she asks and I walk over to the picture and look at it a little closer.  
 " Like you wouldn't believe he was my best friend" I say the picture was of the two of us trying to walk with our feet tied together I laugh at the picture imagining it move to when he fell down both of us laughing till we couldn't breath. Zinnia gives me a hug the kisses me it catches me by surprise. That was my first kiss ever with anyone  but the kiss leaves me to want another so I return kissing her back, but we're interrupted by someone.
 Zinnia moves away from me, but it was to late Dominick already saw us. "What" Dominick say surprised he shakes his head fast and Zinnia smiles and I realise that her smile was a relief that it was just Dominick so I smile to. "When did this happen" he says looking back then coming in. I blush feeling slightly embarrassed that I thought Dominick would be mad that  we are dating. 
 " A few weeks ago" Zinnia says now she was blushing and smiling I walked over to her and take her hand Dominick's smile goes from ear to ear. He goes to walk down the latter. " Dominick you can't tell Jayce" Zinnia says and I nod my head fast even though he saved my life I'm scared of Zinnia's brother being a shoulder for a year and probably the most protective brother in the world. Something tells me I won't get off as easy as Dominick did. 
 " Can I tell Sylvie" Zinnia shakes her head and every person that he wants to tell Zinnia says no.
 " Dominick remember when you and Sylvie wanted to keep your relationship a secret that's what we want to do" Zinnia says and Dominick nods his head understanding. 
 " You both know that Jayce is smart and he'll probably find out about the two of you" he says looking at the two of us  we both nod our heads. " good" he said and he got up to go down the latter. " Your secrets safe with". He climbs down the latter mumbling words as he climbs down. Zinnia and I laugh at him.  I go to the thermoses sitting on a table and poor hot chocolate in two cups I hand one to Zinnia and sit down next to her she snuggles up next to me. Her head rests on my shoulder and I can tell she's sad. 
 I don't ask why " Does it ever get easier" she ask me and I think for a second. " Losing people you love." She continues. 
 I take a deep breath and answer " No" I say thinking about my brother and my father how I lost two of them and it only feels like yesterday " but I do believe that even if it never gets easier, you find others that you love and care about and even if thoughts people never leave you or your dreams, you will always have people that will be there for you" I say wrapping my arms around her holding the only person I love close to me. She curls up in my arms. " To help you with through the dreams and memories" I say looking out into the night and Zinnia falls asleep not shortly after I fall asleep but I wake up cold sweat soaked in my shirt I dreamed about losing Zinnia her body laid in a field of orange and red flowers that weave through her hair. I look over at her sleeping peacefully her eyelashes protect her beautiful eyes from monsters. I get up and go to the table sitting in a chair watching the doorway the dark swallows the forest the only light you can see it the fire at the camp but then I realize the forest is filled with screams of people. I run down the latter and out of the woods. Zinnia was right behind me I can feel the heat of her as embers glide through the forest slowly the embers become ash then her body forms starting from her feet and swirling to form the rest of her body. Her eyes are struck with fear and he chest moves up and down looking around for the person that produced the scream a super blood soldier walks by us and I quickly push Zinnia to the ground and I sit down next to her hiding behind a bush when the soldier walks by us  I cover Zinnia waiting to be shot but that never happens I look up and the soldier is stone someone is by us it's Zac his wheelchair is sitting in a bush he must have crashed it trying to get to us. He was laying in the dirt of the forest his pupils go from tiny slits that look like a snake to a normal human. I stand up and run. I lose Zinnia in all the commotion but I just want to find Ana. I can't find her, but I find Jayce. "Where's Ana" I say and he stops in his tracks looking nervous and I feel my stomach drop. " Jayce where's my sister." I ask again.
 " She's with Dominick and Sylvie" Jayce says and he starts to run I turn around and Zinnia's being swarmed by bees she tries to burn them but everytime she kills them more come up finally the bees go away, she sees her cousin May being loaded on a truck, I see someone with a gun pointed at her back. Jayce pushes her out of the why and I hear a gun fire I look at Zinnia but she was in someone else's arms. I run to them for the first time I'm happy I have powers because I make it to them faster than the bullet that speeds to Jayce I catch the bullet and throw it to the floor when I stop next to Jayce, Zinnia has a knife to her throat and Jayce has a gun pointed at the soldier.
 " You shoot she dies" Jayce lowers his gun. I finally know who the soldier is, it's my friend. 
 " You don't have to do this" I say to him. " Please she's my friend don't do this". I say stepping a little closer to him trying to almost will him to put the knife down but like Zinnia I can't Penetrate his mind.  
 " All the more reason to kill her" Zinnia lets out a cry as he pushes the knife closer to her throat. I look at Jayce and he looks at me. 
 I whisper in his brain a plan that may work or may get us killed. I run up Zinnia before the guy even sees what happens I move the knife away from Zinnia's throat as bees sting me I stand the soldiers shoulder and he lets out a cry he pushes Zinnia to me as a gun fires Zinnia and I both look at Jayce as he falls to the ground I try to hold the soldier back but he's ten times bigger than me. He throws me to the ground like a feather I get back up and the soldier goes to punch me but I move fast then he does his hand moves in slow motion over my nose I get back up again but this time I don't see it coming he punches my nose causing it to bleed almost instantly. Bees start to swarm my body stinging my back, arms, legs, and face I start to feel dizzy and I fall to the ground through the yellow and black swarm I see Zinnia step in front of Jayce, fire flares in her hands protecting him from the knife. She looks at me and almost instantly the knife sinks in her leg. I can tell she wants to scream but she doesn't. The fire still in her hands and she stays standing the guy punches her in the mouth her head goes back but she still stays standing only until she becomes a human inferno does he have to back away her blonde hair floats in the air and even her eyes are on fire the bees go away burning away by the fire and the grass dies I feel my skin burning I can't imagine how Jayce feel and the fire only gets hotter now becoming blue, the super blood vans drive away the holds have burn marks in them the guys skin starts to burn off and he falls to the ground dead. Zinnia fall to the ground at almost the same. Her clothes are incinerated showing just her under clothes and skin she passes out and I pass out at almost the same time. When I wake up I'm sitting in a bucket of cold water and so is Jayce he was still sleeping Zinnia sits by the two of us when she sees I'm awake she kisses me on the cheek tears running down her cheeks. I move my finger on her jawline. 
 " I thought you died the bees and the burning" she said kissing me again.
 " I'm okay you saved the both of us" I say moving my head over to Jayce. Ana walks in and Zinnia hugs me making it look like we are just friends. Ana take both me and Jayce's hand then looks at Zinnia.
 " Thank you" she says letting go of our hands and giving Zinnia a hug. Jayce murmurs in his sleep saying a name. It was Ana she goes back to him and he wakes up.
  " Are they okay" Jayce asks and Ana nods her head. Jayce lets out a sigh of relief and so does Zinnia.
 " Sylvie and Dominick are safe" Ana says, but I could tell she was keeping something from us and everyone else knows.
 " What about Chloe and May" Jayce says and Ana shakes her head.
 " Super blood took them along with everyone else." Ana says Zinnia hugs her. 
 " It's okay you did everything you could do" Zinnia says and Jayce takes her hand. 
 " I'm freezing in here can I get out" I ask and everyone laughs, but I can tell their still sad. Jayce gets changed first his burn marks spread from his legs to his shoulders, his forearms are the worst probably protecting his face with his arms. His bullet wound is covered with a cloth wrap he looks down puzzled at the wound and at his burnt arms. Wasn't he a soldier, I'm sure he's had injuries in his life? I get dressed winsing when ever my shirt touches my skin scratching the scabbed pieces of skin off and making my bee stings itch and burn.
