Chapter 12 Jayce

I sit at the kitchen table the steam from my coffee warms the bottom of my chin Ana sits next to me, she yawns and steals my coffee. Looking at me while she drinks the warm coffee that took forever to make she gives it back to me. Dominick laughs at the two of us when he comes in the kitchen. "Hey, Dominick where's Sylvie," I say putting my arm around Ana. She is not a morning person but she always wakes up at the same time I do so we can spend the morning watching the sunrise. 
"She's right here," Dominick says and a look of confusion spreads over his face when he doesn't see Sylvie. "I swear she is the most sneaky person I've ever." Sylvie jumps out from behind a door frame and scares Dominick he jumps in the air. All four of us start to laugh. Ana even got scared almost spilling the coffee I move it away from her before it spills. "Yeah, yeah you scared me good job," Dominick said in a sarcastic voice but then starts to laugh again at Ana. "You jump so high." 
Ana takes the coffee again but before she drinks she says. "You know J thinks your feet almost touched the top of the counter." That made Sylvie and I laugh a little louder than we should have and Andrew wakes up from the couch his hair a mess and his eyes half-closed he has a blanket wrapped around him and his feet shuffle on the ground. 
"You scared Dominick which also scared Ana you laughed now please quiet," Andrew says and he walks back into the living room. 
"Someone's cranky," Dominick says gesturing to the living room where Andrew was. "I guess he's not a morning person either," Dominick says talking louder you could hear Andrew groan and get up from the couch. 
"Fine, I'll wake up". Andrew says and Ana starts mocking him. We all start laughing again at Andrew's crazy hair. 
When he comes back with his curly black hair brushed and dressed in normal clothes Dominick says. "So what do use in your hair" He uses a mockery girl voice and puts his hand on his cheek. 
We all laugh at this especially when Andrew comes back with "You should stick to the voice it suits you". Dominick instantly goes back to normal and crosses his arms. "Too bad, I sound better when I do it," Andrew says in a different girl voice that sounded a lot like a nanny. 
"Well, Mary Poppins I will have you know that my children are completely miss behaved good luck". At this Andrew nearly dies of laughter and Dominick wipes his two hands together like he was finished cleaning. "Looks like my jobs are done here," Dominick says and a very angry looking Zinnia comes in the kitchen. 
"Children I live with Children," She says and sits down next to Sylvie who was laughing along with the rest of us. 
"Why yes love you do," I say to her and she smiles. Andrew comes over and gives Zinnia a kiss on the head and I look at him and he looks back at me. 
"Good morning Zinnia" He walks over to Sylvie and kisses her head too "and Sylvie" then he kisses Ana's head "and Ana." Then he walks over to me but I back away.
"No I'm good," I say and I here Dominick mumble something. "What did you say," I ask him. 
He looks at me with a nervous look then says " I can't find the bread" 
He looks for the bread in a Cubert when Sylvie says, "It's in the pantry".  She then asks "Can you get me some apple chips please" Dominick looks for the apple chips in the pantry. 
"Sylvie, Sweets I don't think we have apple chips," Dominick say putting the bread on the counter and turning to Sylvie. She gets up and goes to the pantry spinning the shelves around to the side she takes out a green bag that was filled with apple chips.
"I found them," Sylvie said getting a small bowl and pouring the chips in the bowl. 
"How was I supposed to find that," Dominick says throwing his hands in the air. "I'm blonde remember" and Sylvie chuckles at this. 
"Hey" you heard Zinnia say pointing to her blonde hair.
Dominick sits next to Sylvie and says "Sorry Zin it's the truth we Blondes aren't as smart" He says stealing one of Sylvie's apple chips. 
"Aren't you supposed to be making us breakfast Blondie?" I say to him and he gets back up and finds a toaster. 
"Wheres Wyatt" Zinnia asks me and I just shrug my shoulders. I honestly didn't know where he was but I knew this was the first he's gotten out since the Battle and maybe even more. 
"He's out on a hike," Ana says he said he'll be back soon. Zinnia nods her head and Dominick sets a Quesadilla in front of me then puts all the other plates in front of everyone else. 
"It's a breakfast Quesadilla," Dominick says we all look at him bewildered on how he got the ingredients. "I got them from a store outside of America,"  Dominick says as if it was nothing. "What it's not like we're going anywhere anyone of us would feel bad if we left everyone else here," Dominick says taking a bite of his breakfast. 
We all just stared at him until Zinnia speaks "So you can go anywhere in the world" Zinnia says excitement filling her voice she's always wanted to travel the world and see what the world is like outside of what America is. Dominick just shakes his head he knew what Zinnia was thinking. 
"Everywhere is the same Zin people with powers rebellion it's all the same" I could hear true sadness in his voice. I haven't heard sadness from him since his parents were taken. 
Zinnia puts her head thinking for a minute "I'm not hungry" and she gets up from the table Andrew goes to follow but thinks twice of it when Dominick looks at him I feel like the three of them are hiding something but I just leave it. Dominick gets up instead before I can and walks to her room. I can see a little bit of hope fade from his eyes. Sylvie looks at Andrew with an arched eyebrow and he shifts in his chair uncomfortably.
"So Jayce how are you," Andrew says then he eats a piece of his food. 
"I'm good Andrew," I say and Sylvie looks at Andrew and you could see Andrew becoming more nervous by the minute. 
"Jayce can you come here a minute" I heard Wyatt say so I walk to the door and Sylvie follows. "I found some people you might want to be happy to see". Chloe was there with two other people one looked like an older May and the other looked like Andrew but he had blue eyes and he was taller. Chloe runs up and gives Sylvie a hug. The other girl gives me a hug and I realize she is May. 
"Your hair is shorter," I say and May laughs.
"I think I need to-" Andrew says but stops when he sees the guy. "Warren". Andrew goes up to Warren and hugs him they must be brothers Zinnia and Dominick come back they see Chloe and May. 
"How did you guys get out". Dominick asks looking at May who looks like she can tell us everything. "I don't even care you're here now safe." He hugs May again. "How old are you 12," he says laughing.
May looks at him with an angry expression "I'm seventeen for your information" she says and Dominick throws his hands up in surrender and laughs. 
May walks over to the kitchen and tries to get a coffee cup but can't reach. "Do you need any help". I ask and she looks at me I think she is more stubborn than me. She climbs on the counter and gets the cup from off the top shelf. "You know the only ones that drink coffee are taller". 
"You know Ana isn't that tall either right Jayce," May says as if saying I'll tell Ana you're making fun of us short people.
"Yeah well, I'm scared of Ana so there is a difference between making fun of you and making fun of her" May laughs at this and smiles. 
"Well don't worry you'll just have one more person to be afraid of. She says a patting my back. I turn around and see May drinking coffee even though she never poured coffee.
