Chapter 14 Jayce

It was a hot august day. The humidty was insane. I'm training with the new recrutes more like teaching them to use their powers. I run around a dirt path with a group of kids way ahead of me. My leg is stinging, still with a burn from when Zinnia saved use. Dominick is talking to Camella who surprisingly enough has the same powers as him. You can see the scares on his hands a little more from Miss. J most of the time they talk in Spanish always looking around, sometimes Camella will ask about Sylvie who lately has been eating almost everything from Dominick's food that he cooks. She even has been eating oreos and orange juice, and sourkrout she also has been teaching Sebastian how to read. Now I could tell they were talking about the scares on his hands mostly becuase Dominick was the tracing the lines on one of the scares.  Camella laughs at something Dominick says. It's a good thing that they are here I say to my self all the time. Even though I don't trust them especially Elaline, just the way she looks at some of us is different. I hear someone scream and stop running. Now I know that are peaceful cabin that we've been in for eight months is no longer peaceful. I look over at Dominick and he looks over at me taking a deep breath of fear. I've never seen him this scarred. He never takes his eyes off of Zinnia. Zinnia is already covered in flames. Ana stands by me her eyes a light blue like the ice in her veins. The lightning courses through my fingers like thread weaving in and out. Sylvie walks out of the cabin with Sebastian standing behind her scared Dominick moves His eyes away from Zinnia only for a second looking at Sylvie, she nods her head telling him something and he looks back at Zinnia. Andrews eyrs are on Dominick however. Then fear goes through his eyes. First we hear the cars there engines then we hear the people. 
   Dominick teleports over to them and Camilla runs with hyper speed in the cabin and grabs Sebastian and Sylvie, but Sylvie fight out of her grasp and stands by me when Dominick teleports back looking scarred he looks at Sylvie who was already making a plant wall around the cabin making it a cell, and a place that will keep Sebastian safe, that fills me with relife that they will be safe. Until Dominick says. "We are way out numbered and out weaponed" I can almost feel my heart sink scarred. That we might be facing the biggest battle  of our lives. Camille runs out just in time to help us fight, her feet scrapping the dirt, creating a small cloud of dust she is wearing a pair of converses. Not the best shoes for battle, but they will have to do. Grayson comes back from the woods with a gun wrapped around his shoulder, looking aroumd in fear. Ealine comes out of the forest to a gun around her shoulder her crystal skin sparkles in the hot sun. I want to win this fight I want to kill the people that turned me into what I am, i'm also scarred this is the first battle i've been in were my healing powers don't work. We all run to the super blood soilders the air becomes chilled and ice floats through the air as trees grow through some people my lightning stricks through multiple people making them die almost instantly. Bullets are flying from both ends and trees start to burn from the roots up and some people are actually on fire. Dominick is teleporting through out the whole field saving people from falling off of cliffs he takes a gun from Grayson's dead body I only look at him for a second and I keep running I don't think I just keep running, running to the jet that holds bombs, I let my lightning fly from my fingers killing every person that runs up to me, when I reach the jet and go in two guys wait in the jet ready to fly off and drop bombs on everyone "Hi guys" I say smirking and almost instantly I reach for the electricity in their heads and they die. I look out the window and see Dominick his eyes were red probably because he can't save everyone and it hurts him. He starts firing the gun missing most of the people. He never had training. Then he sees Zinnia and I see her to, her lip was bleeding and her eye was bright red filled with blood she is being cornered by a lady with glass coming out of her fingers, like a cat ready to kill her pray. Zinnia has her fists protecting her face ready for her to punch again. I shake my head and start running. 
   "Jayce" Dominick shouts my name swinging the gun over his shoulder. Dominick is the closest time Zinnia. He doesn't even think he's calling my name to save him. He wants me to save him. He is going to save Zinnia.  Dominick pushes Zinnia out of the way right before the glass hits Zinnia. Everything after that happens in slow motion, and the glass hits Dominick in the chest I was nearly inches from him I fall next to him I grab him before he falls to the ground, and I set him down and I see him struggling to breath he holds his chest I look at zinnia who was laying on the floor still alive. "Jayce p-please" he says coughing and holding his chest his hand covered in his blood. 
  "I can't save you" I say I feel completely helpless in this time. He is still gasping for breath his eye is swollen almost shut and his teeth are filled with blood from being punched in the mouth. 
I can see him crying a tear falling from the side of his cheek I grab his hand he swears under his breath "I guess my perfect smile is destroyed" he says, laughing and coughing at the time. I laugh at the joke but the sadness is still way to much and you can tell my laugh is still filled with tears. "Jayce" he says and I know what he was going to say. 
   "I promise I'll take care of them”  I know I can't save him and it's unfair.
"How did I end up with a friend like you" I can feel his hand falling from mine I keep holding his hand I don't want to let go. 
"I'm not a friend Dom I'm your brother and I still am and always will be" I say quietly. He closes his eyes and I takes one last breath before he is gone. Blood falls from his nose, and from the corner of his mouth, and I can hear the girl laugh. I feel the lightning in my fingers they are covered in blood all I feel is anger, anger that this girl took Dominick's life, and she probably killed so many more people. Those's days are over. Before I can kill her, I hear Sylvie scream Dominick's  name and trees erupt from the ground. The earth begins to shake and plants grow around the lady. Suffocating her to death. When Zinnia sits up she looks at Dominick stund then she starts to cry and she swoops next to Dominick. 
"I'm so sorry" Zinnia says cradling Dominick's head in her lap. Then fire burns in her eyes, I could tell all she wanted to do was kill, but it was to late they were all gone they got what they wanted, they had their targets and they shot them. The only one they missed was the one the burns. The fire goes from her gold eyes and all that is left is tears she wraps her arms around me and her shaking body matches mine. Then Andrew runs up to Zinnia hugging her as she curls up in his chest he kisses  the top of her head happy that she is okay. Then he looks over at Dominick and je looks almost startled. He knows something none of us do. He whisper to Zinnia making her calm. He never let's her go and I realize they are more then friends. Sylvie walks over slowly, unsure and scarred, she clutches her stomach when she sees Dominick's body laying lifeless. He will never meet his kid never get to hold it's small body in his arms. Sylvie practically falls to the ground, I catch her before she does she jerks her arms to get out of my grasp and looks at Dominick, she cradles him in her arms. Camella runs over and looks sadly at Dominick a small tear falling from her cheek that she quickly wipes away. She then comforts Sylvie. As a stretcher takes Dominick away checking his pulse and putting a blanket over his body. Sylvie grabs my arm with one hand and clutches her rounded belly with the other. I look at her and her face is like a sheet its completely white. I know what is happening. Dominick why did you have to die know. Sylvie falls to the ground. The plants fall from the cabin, I pick Sylvie up and sprint to the cabin. Ana not far behind. I see Zinnia using Andrew as a crutch to get to the medic. Right now I can't help her. I need to get Sylvie to the cabin.
