Chapter 17 Ana

Jayce walks in the cabin with Andrew both of their eyes are red and filled with tears Jayce was holding Andrew back from running out the door Andrew was screaming at Jayce “This is all my fault if I would have just died, then she would have been safe” Andrew’s voice is shaky. “Jayce she’s not dead because that person is not her” He says his voice is getting even worse almost cracking. 
"She gone, she's gone" Jayce says over and over again right in Andrew’s face. "First my friend and now her". This time he turns to me, but he doesn’t look me in the eye he just turns to me. “She gone her body lay’s, at the bottom of the cliff” He says and I look into his eyes and see nothing. I see no soul I see nothing of the Jayce that I knew.  
 I pick his head up so he can look at me but he just turns his head away I can feel my eyes fill with tears I know who it is, but I don’t want to know."Jayce, look at me, who" I say confusion and worry is in my voice. 
Jayce lets out a drawn shaky breath and says. "Zinnia" instantly I fall to the floor, and scream. Besides Dominick and Jayce she was my only friend, and that is not something Zinnia would ever do. She would stay with us especially now she was always the one to comfort us, but no one comforted her, at this a deep sadness comes over me, one that I can’t even cry to, but just sit there feeling blank.   "W-we found her at the bottom of the cliff." Jayce say again, but this time he adds more. "her body was surrounded by flowers." I stand up and sit on the bed and hug Jayce. He crys in my arms. Wyatt walks in tears in his brown eyes. He barely knew Zinnia, but he still is crying, zinnia had an impact on everyone and the only person that really knew her was Andrew.
 “We need to get the body from the cliff”. Wyatt says and Jayce walks out of the room with Wyatt and I walk out to I suddenly feel freezing not like normal. My blood is freezing I sit down in a chair. I am now scared with Zinnia gone I can't unfreeze myself. I will die. I get up to get something warm to drink, but I instantly fall back in my seat unable to stand. I stand up again using the wall to walk and I sit down by the fire this warms my body and I wrap a blanket around me. I have been like this since the crash. 
Sylvie walk up to me, she knows what is happening, but she doesn’t say anything to anyone, she knows I would hate it if anyone saw me as week. Wyatt and Jayce come back with Zinnia’s body wrapped in a cloth the flowers still on the cloth. 
Andrew walks out of the cabin after staring at me, he was thinking. “That is not Zinnia” Andrew says shouting at Wyatt and Jayce getting angry that no one was listening to him. 
Jayce shakes his head at Andrew and I can tell all hope is gone from him. “Ana please take him back inside” I grab Andrew’s shoulder, but he just shrugs my hand off his shoulder. 
He was getting even more angry that he couldn’t control his powers. Rocks start to float around him spinning. He takes a deep breath and the rocks fall back to the ground. “On Zinnia’s left collar bone she has a tattoo of the words better together in cursive”  Andrew says and we all look at him now wondering how he knows this when nobody else does. “It looks like this” Andrew says taking off his jacket and showing us the tattoo that says the same thing. Wyatt walks over to Zinnia and looks at her left collar bone. 
I see Andrew waiting to know if there was a tattoo on her collarbone and Wyatt just shakes his head, afrown falling on his face, I feel like in some way he felt like Zinnia was still alive to, and he needed proof. That somewhere she was still alive, that somewhere she was still breathing. “I’m sorry Andrew” Andrew doesn’t cry, but I know he wants to he just looks at Zinnia stund and scared. I can see him shaking even if he wasn’t crying he was still sad, sadder than everyone else here. Sylvie looks about the same as Andrew, Dominick died for nothing. 
Andrew is relentless he needs to find something to prove that it’s not Zinnia. “What about the scar behind her ear” Andrew says and Jayce just looks at him. “It wouldn’t hurt to look” Andrew says. Jayce looks behind Zinnia’s ear and he looks the same as he did when he found out she was dead and Andrew looks practically heartbroken because he still believes Zinnia isn’t dead “What about the birthmark on her” 
Jayce interrupts him. “Andrews she’s dead” Jayce yells. “This is her she has the tattoo she has the scar and she has the birthmark”  Andrew storms off in the other direction. Back to the cabin, I shake my head at him and chase Andrew. 
I walk in and see Andrew packing clothes in a bag “She is alive” He says and I sit on his bed, I know there’s nothing I can do to stop him. 
I just talked to him. “So when did you get the tattoo” I ask him and he stops packing. 
    Andrew looks at me at me with a sad smile and says. “We went to the capitol and got them” He says and I look confused. “It’s more like an unground market one of the stores was a tattoo parlor” he says. 
    “Is that when we sent to two of you to get supplies” I say and he smiles. We laugh for a minute. “If you want to find her then go find her” I say to him and a part of me wished that I hadn’t. 
 He goes back to packing. “I know she’s alive Ana” Andrew says “I can feel it, I hear her screaming help.” He says and I believe him, I really do. “The only question is will Jayce let me go” He asks me and I know the answer to that question is a no Jayce will never let him go. 
I stand up and go to the door. “I’ll talk to him,” I say and Andrew nods his head at me. I know Jayce will say no to Andrew, but maybe if I talk to him he will say yes. I open the door to our room and I sit down next to Jayce, knowing what I have to ask him, but I don’t want to. I almost want Jayce to say no, because that means that Andrew will stay and he will be safe, but I also want Andrew to be happy, and if that means having Zinnia back in his life then I have to get Jayce to say yes. “Jayce I have a question,” I say to him hugging him from behind. His head falls on my shoulder and I can tell he’s been crying. 
I almost hate asking him right now, but I have to. “What is it” He says his voice is calming, but still sad I know losing his sister took a toll on him maybe more so than losing Dominick. Sadness falls on me at the thought of Dominick. I miss him the most, I miss his jokes and waking up in the morning and seeing him cooking something for all of us. 
I close my eyes and say it, “Andrew wants to try and find Zinnia” at this Jayce stands up from the bed and, look at me like I’m crazy. “Jayce I know it sounds crazy, but Andrew is so stubborn and with this you will never be able to say no” I say to him and he turns around no longer looking at me. “He loves her Jayce” At this he turns back around. 
He just shakes his head. “I can’t lose another soldier,” He says his voice is shaky. 
 Anger courses through me, but I managed to stay calm in order to get Jayce to say yes, I let the comment pass “Jayce please if I was missing and you knew I was alive you would come and save me” I say to him and he looks stund I don’t know what he is going to say now, but at this point I really couldn’t care less, we aren’t even his family anymore we’re soldiers. 
He just shakes his head “Not if it was risking lives” he says and I stand up from the bed. “Ana wait I didn’t mean to say that, I’m just” 
I interrupt him I can no longer sit and listen to him talking. “I am telling Andrew you said, yes” In a bitter voice that is also filled with shock and tears. “And we are not soldiers we are your family”I say then what comes out of my mouth next is something I can’t even believe. “And if you would rather not risk lives, which I would guess you really mean soldiers right, If you would rather do nothing then save me, then I guess you really don’t love me do you” The words pierce through my heart and I don’t stop. “And all you really care about is this war” I say, feeling sadder by the minute I know what this fight means. “Jayce we are done.” I say and he looks at me with a look of sadness that I will never unsee from my mind. He goes to grab my hand but I was already out the door slamming it behind me. I can hear him kick the door frustrated with himself. I wipe the tears from my eyes and put on a fake smile. I walk back to Andrew’s room and open the door he was pacing across the room with his arms crossed, he is probably thinking about a way to escape if Jayce says no. “He said yes” I tell Andrew and his eyes light up with excitement. 
He gives me a hug and I know he is saying thank you. “I’ll be back I promise” He says, it’s not him that worries me, if Zinnia is alive and if she is being held by super blood, I don’t even want to think of what they are doing to her. Andrew walks out of the room with a bookbag full of things. Then he goes to the kitchen and takes small things almost like snacks, and a water. 
Wyatt stops him before he walk out the door, blocking his path with his arms. He may not have powers, but he was still stronger then Andrew and Wyatt is bound to take Jayce’s side, but then he says something that surprises both me and Andrew. “ I want to come with you” He says still blocking the door and says more, but before he says anything more he looks around for just a second and says the next words, with such sadness that it makes both Andrew and I sad. “Zinnia was and still is my daughter, and if she is still alive I want her to see me and know who I am I don’t want to die without my children knowing who I am” He says and Andrew just nods his head not saying anything. 
Then when we get out of the door Andrew says. “I know” and Wyatt looks astounded. “Ana I think you should stay here” Andrew says and anger goes through me once again. “Your not strong enough right now” He says and I become more angry, I want to come with them, I want to see Zinnia, besides if we find Zinnia, and I’m not dead by then, she can save me. “Ana you really shouldn’t come this journey could take a long time and if you get to-”
I interrupt him once again I have to speak for myself, and it seems like nobody is letting me. “Andrew I’m coming and nothing not even my powers will stop me” I say and Andrew understands, but Wyatt looks confused. “Okay look when the plane crashed  that I was flying I was taken by super blood as well” I say as we walk Wyatt listening to me every word. “ The doubled my doses and tried to make me more powerful, instead it’s just slowly killing my from the inside.” 
The day was still young and even though it was the middle of August I was freezing. “So what do they what with Zinnia” Wyatt asks me and I shrug my shoulders. 
Andrew answers for me. “They think she is the most powerful, and if they kill her,it won’t be a tragic loss for them, because  to them she’s just another runt, who took a different take on the vaccine” He says the last words with such disgust you can tell it makes him sick. We both stare at him. “Mother left me with the test subjects to see what perfection was” The disgust was still in his voice. Feel my neck the ice had made it to my neck, I take a scarf of some kind and cover my neck up, but Wyatt notices me covering my neck and he looks at me with pity.
