Reagan woke up about four hours later. She was laying in a hospital bed. Leaping up, Reagan looked up to see a woman with red hair standing over her.
"Lay back down Reagan. You're unwell." The woman put her hand on Reagan's shoulder and Reagan instantly began to read her mind. Reagan was able to read people's minds through direct contact.
"Reagan, listen. I need to know all your powers. You can trust me. At Xavier's school, we trust each other."
"Trust isn't one of my best qualities. I don't know you."
"I am Jean Grey. I am a X-Men. I can move objects with my mind. You can trust me, Reagan Enlighten." Reagan leaned away from Jean.
"I can't trust anyone. Not anymore."
"You trusted Peter. After you feel better, I'll send you down to go see him. He was really worried about you," Jean said. Reagan stood up, shaking slightly. Jean moved to stand beside her as Reagan moved toward the door. Carefully, Reagan left Jean in the lab and headed towards the door at the end of the hall. She opened it and came into a hallway on the second floor. She was right near the staircase. Suddenly, people began to run down the hallway in her direction. Reagan leapt out of their way as they sped down the hall. While she moved back, she tripped over the staircase bar and fell backward over the side rail. Bracing herself to hit the floor, Reagan closed her eyes. But the impact never came. Instead she opened her eyes to see a boy holding her bridal style. He had blue green eyes, and black hair. He was smiling and smelled like the ocean. He was about 6'5" and was very muscular. He was also absolutely gorgeous. But Reagan wasn't one to swoon easily.
"Oh, hi," Reagan said as the boy carefully set her down on her combat boots. He kept his arms around her waist though.
"Hey," he said. His voice was absolutely beautiful. "Nice of you to drop in. I'm Aidan Alistair. And you are?"
"I'm Reagan. Nice to meet you."
"So, you're the new student the Profferer said we were getting. What's your power?" Aidan asked as he moved his hands from her waist and shoved them in his pocket.
"Well," Reagan started. "It's complicated."
"It's ok. I can deal with complicated." Aidan stared intently at her as she shifted uncomfortably.
"I have wings. I can also use any kind of power I want. The elements, water, fire, air, darkness, you know, those kinds are the easiest to create. The rest takes major energy," Reagan said. Aidan's eyes widened and Reagan made a move to walk away but Aidan caught her wrist.
"Reagan. Where are you going?" He asked.
"I'm leaving. I don't belong here. If you're repulsed by me than the other kids definitely will be," Reagan said as she tried to pull her hand back.
"You think that I'm repulsed by you? How could someone so beautiful find themselves repulsive? I don't care if you can't control your powers. Some kids here can't. No one is going to avoid you or be mean to you. I'll be your friend and protect you. It'll be the start of an epic friendship," Aidan said with a dramatic flair. Reagan laughed and allowed Aidan to lead her down the hall toward a classroom.
"Reagan!" A voice called out. Reagan and Aidan turned to see Peter standing there.
"Peter!" Reagan shouted as she raced toward him. Peter threw his arms around her and hugged her.
"How ya feeling? I tried to convince the Professor to let me stay with you but he said you were in good hands," Peter said. He looked up at Aidan.
"Oh, Peter. Do you know Aidan? We just met a few......." Reagan started but Aidan jumped in.
"We met about ten minutes ago when I caught her when she fell off the top floor. Nice to meet you Peter."
"Same. Reagan, you fell off the top floor?!" Peter asked as he stared at her. Reagan shrugged.
"It was actually only the second floor. I fell over the balcony part. It's not that big a deal."
"It is!" Peter and Aidan said together. Then, Reagan laughed as the boys glared at each other.
