A few days had passed since the captain's promotion, and Yorktown finds herself sitting on a couch all by herself.

"Is the commander- eh- captain too busy today?" Yorktown mumbles, quickly correcting herself. "The sun will rise in a good few minutes..." An hour passes as the sun completely rises and the captain is still nowhere to be found, but Enterprise and Hornet emerge.

"Huh? Where's the captain?" Enterprise asks.

"I have no idea. Usually he would meet me here, but it seems like he's not around." Yorktown replies. Is he too busy or something?

"I'm not completely sure." Hornet says. "Want me to go find him?"

"I mean if you want to." Yorktown replies as the young carrier goes off to try and find the captain.

"Hmm... He's not in his quarters..." Hornet mumbles as she easily throws the door open to find his bed perfectly made. "The only other place he could be is his office..." She slowly trails off, still remembering that day the group found him unconscious and having nearly worked himself to death, and she starts sprinting to his office to make sure he's okay. She skids to a stop and gives a few quick raps, hoping for a response.

"Yes? Who is it?" The captain's voice calls out and Hornet breathes a big sigh of relief.

"It's Hornet." Hornet replies.

"I'm really sorry, but I don't have too much time right now." Captain Tran says through the closed door. "You can come in at a later time, but right now I'm kinda swamped in work."

"Well won't you let one of us help you out?" Hornet asks.

"It's alright. I'm more careful about myself you know?" Captain Tran's voice replies.

"Alright... But if you don't come out in a few hours I'm busting down that door." Hornet playfully says as she walks off and returns to Enterprise and Yorktown. "He told me he's busy, but I don't think I can believe that. The war's long over, there are no exercises to speak of, what could he possibly be doing to busy himself?"

"I have no idea." Enterprise says.

"Well at least he said he's being more careful with himself so doesn't pass out like that time." Hornet replies. "If that were to happen now he would probably be dead."

"Still I worry about him." Yorktown mumbles. "I know we all worry about him some, but me... I guess it's just more pronounced than you girls."

"Are you sure it's not because you like him?" Hornet asks. "You two have been spending so much time together, and you two are really close."

"I... I..." Yorktown trails off as she starts blushing. "I do like him... Yes..."

"See, that wasn't so hard to get out was it?" Enterprise says.

"I like him but... I'm not sure if he likes me back." Yorktown replies. "And I'm not even sure if he can even use that oath ring of his anymore. In five years he'll be gone."

"That oath ring does more than just proclaim love you know?" Hornet says. "There's a reason why that ring isn't called a wedding ring. I've met with the Royal Navy on some occasions and there are some girls with that ring on their finger, yet they refer to their commander like they would a close friend, not a loved one."

"Oh?" Yorktown asks, intrigued.

"If he gives you that ring, he's essentially saying you're the closest person to him." Enterprise adds. "And if I'm being honest, you're most likely the one he'll give it to if he does give it to someone. You've been with him the longest, you've bonded with him even more than we have, it just seems appropriate."

"Even when he's long gone, that ring will be a tender memory of him and all the memories you shared with him." Hornet says.

"I see..." Yorktown replies. "Thanks." She says as she giggles to herself.

"What's so funny?" Enterprise asks.

"As the oldest of us three I should be the one giving you advice but here I am taking some from my little sisters." Yorktown replies.

"That is kinda funny." Enterprise chuckles. "Now come on, let's fetch the captain and we can all get some breakfast."
