Nicole's loud ass voice enters my brain, waking me up from my comfortable sleep. How? She is all the way downstairs but she decides to yell like its not nine in the morning.

Mel gives me a kiss on the cheek before getting up to get ready. I watch her through the cracked bathroom door, her turning on the water and waiting for it to get hot enough as she starts to take off her clothes. I smile and get up to the bathroom door.

"Boo!" She jumps when i burst into the bathroom.

"What the fuck are you doing?!"

"This is what married couples do. When we get married we'll have to take showers together every morning and every night." She blushes and then looks down at the ground. Oh, Right. "Close your eyes and I'll get undressed too so its not awkward."

Mel covers her eyes with her hands and turns around. I get undressed, but stop. Scars from the past litter my body. She'll see it and not love me anymore.

"Are you done?" She spreads one finger apart

"Hey, no peeking!"

"Imma see you anyways." She laughs. I stare at my scars, they're faded, but still visible. "Hey...whats wrong? We dont have to do this if you dont want to...i just assumed that you-"

"Ryland will get mad at the water being wasted, lets get in."

Mel doesnt push any further. We get in the shower and just stare at eachother. We've never seen eachother fully naked before, and this was a whole new thing. Mel begins to wash herself, with the body wash. I wait for her to finish and we swithch spots so that shes under the water washing herself with water, while im using the body wash.

"Listen," She says. We switch places again. "if its about the scars on your body, why would I not have seen them before? Ive seen them and I dont care. I love you for who you are...you're scars and you're past wont change that."

We swich again. This time, I move on to my hair. Mel brushes her teeth.

"I love you too." I kiss her and she makes a face.

"Morning breath. Brush your teeth, babe."

We both laugh and I switch with Mel to brush my teeth as instructed.

My sister sits at the counter laughing with Garrett. I've always thought that they would be best friends just by thier personalities. Her eyes light up as she spots Mel and I walk down the stairs.

"Whats good, lil sis?" She holds her arms out and I walk into her arms. She embraces me in a hug and then moves on to Mel. "Hello, sister in law."

"We arent married yet, you cant say that."I say.

"Sure I can, loser."

I roll my eyes and sit next to Nicole. she takes one look at my hair and frowns.

"When did you last brush your hair?" I shrug my shoulders. I've been flat ironing it for awhile now. "Let me fix this mess."

We head up the stairs too my room, and Nicole closes the door. "We need to talk...about.."

She didn't have to finish the sentence. The talk was going to be about Charles...or maybe mom. If it was going to be about her, I don't think I could handle it.

I sit on my bed, and Nicole does the same. Silence fills the room.

"Charles is getting out of jail in a month.." Nicole's eyes search mine. "He wants us back. He said he's changed and he's different, but I don't know if that's the case. If we were to ever have a relationship back with him, there would be check ups from the state to make sure everything is okay."
