The boisterous Lady Daisy watched as their new stable boy dumped bales of hay in a stall. She was beyond curious as to what he looked like and was awed when the boy finally turned to her.
Small wisps of spun gold hair fell across a very pretty face. Blue, blue eyes were fringed with the palest eyelashes and the most beautiful shaped lips were stretched in a polite smile.
"Good morning, milady."
The voice that greeted her were the softest of all, like the softness of melted butter on her fingertips. A shiver coursed through her.
Painting a small smile, Daisy wandered for a second what her father, the earl would say if she dare take up with this handsome boy. Shaking her head at her foolishness she couldn't be that cruel to her papa. The man lived for her happiness.
"Hello... You must be the new stable boy. What's your name?"
The boy nodded his head before giving her a wide smile. "Yes, I am and my name's Elfonse. Or Eli for short."
"Oh. You do realize that you have a very beautiful name that fits you well? I'm quite jealous." Daisy huffed, her smooth cheeks pinking.
Eli doesn't know how to react to the lady's bold reaction but to laugh heartily. When his laughter died down, he swiped a small tear from the corner of his eyes.
Daisy was dumbfounded by Eli's outburst. Embarrassment brought back the red tinge to her cheeks. "Oh, shut it, Eli... Is it alright to call you that?" Suddenly feeling conscious that she had been acting overly familiar with the boy.
Eli chuckled some more before he finally looked at Lady Daisy. "Of course. Why ever not for? And please, do not be envious of my name. I was eternally bullied back home because of it."
Daisy's eyes widened in horror. "Oh, no! B-but... how could they! You have the most beautiful face--not to mention that name goes well with it!"
Eli blushed profusely, his light coloring not helping him one bit. Daisy cooed at him for being cute which he in turn rolled his eyes at. Lady Daisy was just one of the many women who called him that.
"Please, milady--"
"Oh, no need to call me that. I already consider you as my friend so no formalities in my presence, alright?"
Eli nodded, his face a picture of happiness at the newfound friendship. Who would have thought the Lady of the manor would be his friend? Not in a million years could he imagine that.
Eli knew he was no nobility. His mother was just a whore and his father an unknown man who paid for one night's passion. Her mother wasn't even sure who got her enciente. But it doesn't matter anymore... as far as he's concerned, his parents died a long time ago.
What matters the most is the 'now'. He looked at his employer's daughter and blushed at her scrutiny. "What? Is there something on my face?"
Daisy shook her head, her black curls swaying with her graceful movement. If he was interested in the opposite sex, he'd had already fallen for her. She was just a beautiful woman to behold.
As it turned out, he was more capable of loving one of his own gender. Sadly, there were not many who felt the same; his options reduced to only two known persons and both whom were madly in love with each other.
And then, there was Mr. Simmons who was just too old for him. He wouldn't even know what to talk with him about; their ages too far apart to have anything in common. It was really hard to find someone he was interested in and who harbors the same interest in him.
