"So what's the plan?" Tucker asked sitting up Indian style in his bed. I pushed his door up, but didn't fully close it. "I already have my stuff, all you need to do is gather your stuff and put it in here. This bag is big enough for the both of our stuff together. Rochelle is gone to work and I found some sleeping pills in the medicine cabinet and crushed three up and dropped them in Sebastian's beer. " Damn, are you trying to kill the man?" Tucker gasped. "He'll be alright," Monique flatly stated.

Tucker shook his head and scurried around the room like a madman. "What are we gonna do for food?" He asked slinging clothes and shoes in the bag. "I grabbed two loaves of bread ,ham and a few bottles of water and some yams in a container." "Is that all your stuff?" I asked impatiently.

"Yea, that's it." "Let's get out of here," Monique said pushing past Tucker.

The window had a lock on it that you could easily unlock from the inside. "I feel like a criminal, instead of breaking out of jail were breaking away from a lil slice of paradise," Tucker commented sarcastically. Running down the road, we were free from Sebastian. He shouldn't be waking up for awhile anyway, I thought.

"Where are we gonna sleep?" Tucker walked backwards. "I'm sure we'll find somewhere." We walked for miles and my feet begin to ache. "I'm tired, I wanna sit down," Tucker complained sitting on the curb. "People in hell want ice water, we can't always get what we want. Now get up and quit bitchin' !

Tucker stood up and walked faster ahead of me mumbling incoherent words. " Slow down !" "No, you wanna keep going, so that's what were gonna do," he threw his hands up. "Car ! I pointed and grabbed Tucker so quick, he didn't even see it coming. "Watch where your fucking going and shit like that can be avoided," I yelled. Tucker looked at me as if he'd seen a ghost.

"I almost got killed, you saved my life," Tucker cried. "Look, there's a little area, let's go lay there." I know this is a bad idea and we could get robbed for the little that we do have, but we had to make the best of every situation.

Tucker and I used the bag as a pillow and cuddled up to each other for warmth. "I can't sleep, I keep hearing something move," Tucker said. "Its probably just a squirrel, try and tune it out and get some sleep," I held him tighter.

Hours later we got up restless and hungry. "What do have in there again?" Tucker scratched his head and yawned. "We have bread, ham, water and yams," I said looking over the stuff in the bag. "Its all squished," he raised the bread up. "Eat or starve, your choice," I said taking out a couple slices of bread and a piece of ham. "Am I going to school today?" He asked. "Yes, and you have promise me you'll wear a smile like its your dimples stuck on you," I said pinching his dimples. "How we gonna get there?" "Obviously, we'll walk. Its just like any other day, we'll be back in a home in no time," I assured him.

The walk to school was long and boring, we made sure to stay on the sidewalk this time. When I dropped Tucker off, I ran to my class before the bell sounded. "Eager to get to class this morning, Miss Wilson?" The teacher pointed out. The few people who were in the class got a good laugh in. She begin teaching and I paid close attention.

Hours later, I was finally seated in the library. Today I didn't wanna deal with Kendrick. I did miss him, but I didn't want him to pity me. As soon as school was over, I ran over to the middle school to get my brother. "You did like I asked?" "Yes," he continued smiling. "I even bragged about all we had, the teachers are happy for us," he added.

On the way home, we were stopped by an older lady. "You two alright?" The rosy cheeked lady asked. "No ma'am, we h- I cleared my throat and started to explain to her. "What he means is No were not alright, because school is so stressful," I lied. "Is that what you were about to say, young man?" The stocky rosy cheeked lady asked. Tucker shook his head no and told the lady the truth.

"Oh dear, you two come in, I wont take no for an answer," she said walking back inside her apartment. The apartment was pretty big for just one person. Immediately, a cat brushed against my leg when I walked in and I quickly moved my leg. "Oh, that's just Mr. Snuggles, he as sweet as they come."

"Look, the two of you can stay in this room. It's not much, but at least you'll have a roof over your head." The room was small, but I wouldn't dare open my mouth to complain. It was nearly empty, all that was in it was a bed and a dresser drawers. "Excuse my manners, my name is Ida bea Mayfield," she said sitting in her recliner picking up her crossword book. "If your hungry, there's some chili beans in the fridge, just heat it up and eat. We sat there and ate and talked amongst ourselves, satisfied we didn't have to sleep out in the cold.
