Pearl: Have you thought anymore about what I said?
Katherine: We'll leave soon, Pearl. I promise. I need to take care of a few things first.
Pearl: You're going to turn the children aren't you?
Katherine: No. Just the brothers. I have no use for that little whiny brat, Bailey.
Pearl: Katherine, please. Be careful.
Katherine: Pearl, I'll be safe. I promise. 
Mr. Gilbert started to head where they were.
Katherine: Mr. Gilbert's coming. Quick your cheeks. Perfectly rosy. Katherine said  pinching Pearl's cheeks.
Johnathan: Ms. Pearl?! May I have a moment?
Pearl: Of course Mr. Gilbert. I'm still waiting for you to explain that comet in the sky. Pearl. and Mr. Gilbert then left the room.
Katherine: Your mother has an admirer.
Giuseppe: As descendants of the founding families, they want to know that they can count on you. 
He was talking to his children.
Stefan:Of course they can. Is there any doubt? Stefan said agreeing while Damon just kept walking and Bailey kept running around laughing. Damon and Stefan kept watching their little sister smiling.
Giuseppe:I'm not sure your brother Damon understands the importance of duty.
Stefan: Damon left the Confederacy on principle. It was his choice and it should be respected.
Giuseppe: You forgive me for having trouble respecting a deserter.
Damon: I never asked for your respect.
Giuseppe: Good for you, Damon. Because all I have is disappointment. 
Stefan: You said that the town was in trouble?! Stefan said trying to change the subject.
Giuseppe: There've been too many deaths. It is time for us to fight back. Stop these killers.
Stefan: Killers? What are you talking about?
Giuseppe: We live amongst demons.
Damon: You're being cryptic now, father. Why don't you just say the word.
Giuseppe: Vampires. They exist, and they live amongst us, and we have a plan to kill them. And you're going to help us.
Damon: What about,Bailey?
Giuseppe:No. I don't want your sister to get involved. She could get hurt or killed. Besides she's just a child. 
Just as he said this Damon and Stefan looked behind them and saw Bailey climbing a tree laughing. They smiled until the branch she stepped on snapped and she was about to fall. She quickly grabbed onto the branch that was above her head and she started kicking her legs crying. The brothers quickly ran over to help her.  When they got to the tree Stefan stood under Bailey waiting to catch her if she fell and Damon climbed the opposite side of the tree and reached where she was. Damon quickly grabbed her and put her on his back and climbed down the tree. Bailey smiled with tears in her eyes and hugged her brothers.
Bailey: Thank you.
Damon: You know no matter what we'll always be there to help you.
Stefan: We promise.

Present Day

Damon's P.O.V
M

e: My father never approved of anyone I dated. Which only made me want them more, of course. What about you? I said cutting vegetables and talking to Jenna. 
Jenna: There were a few guys.  Logan isn't the only loser I've dated.
Me: They ever find him? He still missing?
Jenna: He's not missing. He's in the Bahama's working on his tan. He's very entitled  that one. Marches through his own drum. He's a Fell, they're all snooty.  I just smirked and walked up to her and poured more wine in her glass.
Me: Hello,Elena. She then walked into the kitchen.
Jenna: Hey. Where have you been? We're cooking dinner.
Me: Stefan with you?
Elena: Um, he'll be here soon.
*Later*
Elena was walking until I bumped into her 'accidentally'.
Elena: Don't do that.
Me: Do what? 
Elena: You know what. That move was deliberate.
Me: Well, yeah. I was deliberately trying to the ... sink. Speaking of Stefan. Where is he? He's missing family night, which I am enjoying immensely. And Bailey is having fun with Jeremy. I said looking into the living room and seeing Jeremy showing Bailey how to play X-box. I smiled knowing that she's happy and that she deserves it.
Me: Is it real?
Elena:Is what real?
Me: This renewed sense of brotherhood. Can I trust him?
Elena: Yes you can trust him.
Me: Can I trust him? I asked this time in her face.
Elena: I'm wearing vervain, Damon. It's not gonna work.
Me: I'm not compelling you. I just want you to answer me. Honestly. 
Elena: Of course you can.
Me: I just needed to know. Because right now the only sibling I can trust is Bailey.
Elena: You really do love your sister huh?
Me: More than anything in the world.
