Its time

(I'd advise reading Forestalling Armageddon, or at least the chapter "Apex Manuscript" before reading this story. Oh and the "Death of a Legend" story of course)

A set of wooden thrones made up the sole furniture in a darkened cave. Stalactites a sickly yellow took up most of the room. Upon those thrones sat figures shrouded in black hooded robes, clearly decrepit with age. A figure of a young man knelt before them. Two hand axes were strapped to his back and a small silver crown hung upon his head. He was dressed in Persian style battle armour and a small satchel hung at his side.

"You know why you are here?" One of the figures spoke, as it managed to rise to its feet, with notable effort.

The kneeling figure nodded.

"It's time!" Another of the hidden figures shrieked out, her voice making the walls of the chamber shake and chunks of rock were dislodged from the ceiling.

"Gaia and End, they were merely precursors to the real threat. Harbingers of the danger we all know face. The entity that secretly instigated their invasions has awoken... and none of us may be able to stop it."

"If so, why did you call me here? There is surely something to be done?" The kneeling figure protested.

"To enlighten you. Chaos and End, the two opposing forces, their birth created the universe in the event you know as the "Big Bang". But that explosion created a third entity, one stronger than the other two. Chaos and End united together and through trickery and subterfuge, sealed their sibling in the sun. Now that monster begins to rise, if he is able to awaken, he will escape by ripping apart his prison, tearing apart the whole universe. "

"My... I cant believe it.... what can I do?" The kneeling figure asked.

"A long time ago we gave you the Apex Manuscript, the scroll that allows you to access all of humanity's knowledge and skills from all across time and space. You must collect all of humanity's great minds to build a vehicle capable of entering the sun, allowing you to fight the monster there. In time your allies will join you, and if you succeed in your respective missions... there may yet be hope for us all."

The chamber shook again, stalactites held in place suddenly crumbling as the stone floor itself began to crack.

"We can't hold you here any longer, our power is too weak...GO!" The standing figure bellowed.

"Wait! What is the name of this threat?!" The kneeling figure yelled as he struggled to his feet.

"It has no name... it is simply the final reckoning." The leading figure spoke. There was a flash of purple light and when it ended, the room was entirely empty.
