As jughead sat in detention alone, he felt nothing but relief that somehow Veronica had finally forgiven him. He sighed looking around and thought how am i alone in detention this time? And the worst part is there's nothing to eat. How fair is that? He looked at the clock and groaned."its only been 5 minutes" he said out of boredom.
He just sat there, tapping his fingers on his desk looking at the clock when he heard the door being opened.
"Finally someone's here" he whispered to himself and turned in that direction. To say he was surprised would be an understatement.
"Come in Ms. Lodge. Its so kind of you to grace us with your presence" Mr. Williams said snarkily
"Its my pleasure sir" Veronica replied back with equal snark and gave a little bow.
Mr. Williams gave Veronica a cold look and warned her "watch your tone young lady otherwise it would be worse than detention the next time"
"I'll remember that Mr. Williams" Veronica replied as she smiled and looked around the room, her eyes fixing on jughead. She looked at him mischievously and winked. Jughead was so shocked that he almost fell out of his chair. Veronica chuckled witnessing jughead's mishap which earned her a glare from both the teacher and jughead.
She slowly walked to the seat next to jughead and sat. She was about to say hello to jughead when Mr. Williams said "no talking is allowed. And why are you sitting next to him, go pick another seat"
She didn't move. She stayed there and looked Mr. Williams in his eyes and said "make me" jughead who was sitting next to her felt that he had had enough of surprises in one day and nudged her leg, prompting her to stay quiet as Mr. Williams looked at her angrily.
He was about to say something when Veronica said "i can pick any seat i want. And i chose to sit here. You can't tell me where to sit and where to not. You do not control my actions. If you didn't want me sitting here, you should have told earlier when you got me in this room. Its too late now"
Jughead mentally groaned she's going to get in trouble he thought. He just sat there quietly.
"Give some respect to your teachers. Do you want to get another detention?" Mr. Williams angrily said
"I do respect all my teachers sir. But i can't stand when us students are treated unfairly." Veronica said
"What unfairness happened to you?" He sarcastically said
"You only got me into detention because I saw you mentally harassing a student and i spoke up against you. How is it that us students can't say anything but you teachers can say whatever's on your mind?" Veronica replied without missing a beat.
"How dare you accuse me of mentally harassing a student? I was doing nothing of that sort!" He replied angrily
"Oh yeah, calling a student useless, a failure repeatedly, even when you're seeing that the child is crying, how your words are affecting him, you still stoop more low by saying that you have learnt nothing from your good for nothing parents and practically threatening him of getting him expelled just over a bad test isn't mental harrasment?" Veronica replied back
He was shaking with anger at Veronica's outburst and said "just you wait, Ms. Lodge. I am getting the principal" and left.
Jughead shook his head as he looked at Veronica who wasn't fazed by what Mr. Williams said. "Veronica what did you just do?"
She looked at him and smiled "oh nothing. Just giving him a taste of his own medicine"
"How'd this happen anyway?" Jughead asked.
"To be honest jughead, i was actually thinking of how to get myself in detention, which by the way, worked out charmingly, as here I am" she said happily
Jughead looked at her as if she was crazy "you wanted to get detention, why?"
"Because you were here" she said as a matter of fact.
He just stared at her then laughed. "You're crazy"
"I am. So anyways, i was minding my own business when i heard shouting coming from the room beside me, so i hot curious and eavesdropped. I was appalled at what i saw and heard. And i couldn't control myself. U went upto him and told him off and the rest you just saw" she said sheepishly
"I have heard rumours of Mr. Williams being too harsh on students, but i didn't know it was to that extent. Veronica although i agree with you about how he treated the student, but don't you think you've gone overboard? You could get suspended or worse expelled" he said
"Oh don't you worry jughead. I've got it all under control." She said as she smirked.
Jughead was about to ask her how but was interrupted by a voice saying "Ms. Lodge may I have a word with you?" He looked up to see the principal standing next to a smirking Mr. Williams.
"Of course sir" Veronica said as she got up. And went outside with them.
"What's wrong sir?" Veronica asked Mr weatherbee
"Mr. Williams has told me about your rude behaviour. This sort if behaviour isn't appreciated in our school. Before i tell you your punishment do you have anything to say?" He said.
"Yes sir, if i may?" Veronica said to which he nodded and she continued " sir, i had no intention to behave unruly with Mr. Williams. But sir after what i saw and heard I couldn't help it. He was mentally harrassing a student sir. Sir, i understand when a student doesn't score well in his test that a teacher is upset and angry, but saying that he is a loser, a failure repeatedly to child who is already disheartened and crying is going too far. And then calling his parents good for nothings, and threatening to get him expelled sir. I just couldn't atay quiet any longer"
Mr. Weatherbee was shocked. "Is this true Mr. Williams?" He asked sternly
Mr. Williams stuttered" no sir she's lying."
Mr. Weatherbee looked at both of them and then asked Veronica "do you know the students name?"
She shook her head. Mr. Weatherbee sighed" then Veronica it's your word against a teacher. I'm sorry to say that without proof we can't put allegations on him"
Veronica nodded "i have proof sir."
Mr. Weatherbee and Mr. Williams both looked shocked. "You have? Show me" mr weatherbee said.
Veronica took out her phone and pressed play to the video she made of Mr. Williams harrassing the student and showed it to Mr. Weatherbee.
Mr. Weatherbee looked at the video and then turned to see Mr. Williams who had a look of guilt in his face. "This behaviour is unsuitable for a teacher in this school. I had gotten various complaints against you but with no evidence so i just put it aside thinking that those were just some students playing pranks. But now i know its true. Pack your things Mr. Williams. You're fired."
Mr. Williams just looked angrily at Veronica and went to the teachers room to clear out his desk mumbling.
Mr weatherbee sighed " now Ms. Lodge i know you meant well, but next time this happens i expect you to first come to me alright? Consider this a warning okay?"
Veronica nodded and smiled "thank you sir" and went back inside to jughead.
Jughead who sat there worried looked at Veronica smiling just felt immediate relief that nothing bad happened.
"I got Mr. Williams fired!" Veronica said happily
"WHAT?" Jughead said shocked
Veronica opened her phone and slid it in his hand and pressed play.
Jughead looked at the video and then laughed "you aure know when to record things"
"Always be prepared jughead. Always" Veronica said
