For a week, Alec and Andrew had been spending a lot of time together. Mostly just buddies doing friend stuff, but it usually ended in fucking. Both were very aware of the fact that they were picturing someone else when they were together. It was their way of coping with their broken hearts.
Coming home from work, Alec was emptying his mailbox, when his phone rang.
"Underhill. What's up?"
"Nothing much. Was wondering if you could come over? Lorenzo has just been here with the break up box, and I really don't want to be alone."
Staring at the letter in his hand, Alec forgot completely to answer. He would recognize that handwriting anywhere. It was Magnus. A letter from Magnus.
"Alec, are you there?"
"Huh? Yeah sure. I'll come over."
"Great. Bring wine. I'll make dinner."
"Perfect."
Alec hung up the phone and tore open the letter. Inside was two tickets to a Knicks game and a small note saying: I hope you'll come.
Alec turned the note around a couple of times. Was that it? Almost 6 weeks and nothing more than one sentence? Alec didn't know if he should be disappointed, upset or appreciate it. After all, he had been the one that said they couldn't see each other again. So maybe he shouldn't be upset with him. Staring at the tickets, he debated if he should bring Andrew or not. He kept debating all the way to Andrews apartment, and had almost decided to take Andrew, when he entered.
"Hey. Did you get the wine?"
Without thinking Alec hid the tickets behind his back.
"No, sorry. I forgot. I'll go back."
"Alright. The food isn't ready yet anyway."
Alec backed out the door, and stuffed the tickets deep inside his pocket. His subconscious had chosen for him. He would bring Jace.
Alec hurried down to the store and picked out a wine. He would drink and have a good evening with Andrew and tomorrow he would plan the trip to go see Mag... the Knicks.
----
The day of the game had finally approached, and Alec was exited. Jace had been over the moon about the tickets, and Alec had spared him the story of how he had gotten them. He didn't want to hear Jace judging him.
Since his relationship with Clary had worked itself out perfectly, Alec hadn't been eager to talk about how bad things got for him and Magnus. He hadn't even told Jace that Magnus lived in Brooklyn now. And he hadn't told him about the coaching job either. He knew Jace would stop him from going if he found out. And he really wanted to go.
"Brother!"
Jace picked up Alec at the airport.
"Jace, so good to see you, little brother."
Alec hugged Jace tight. He had truly missed him, and felt guilty for not telling him the truth.
"Alec, you are choking me. Let go, you giant!"
Alec chuckled and released his brother.
"Stop being so dramatic, Jace. It was just a little bearhug."
"That wasn't dramatic... This is."
Jace threw himself to the ground screaming.
"OH MY GOD! I can't breathe. I can't breathe!!! You killed me!"
Alec rapidly dragged Jace to his feet glancing in every direction.
"Stop it, you idiot. Before security comes and takes you away."
Jace laughed and grabbed Alec's bag, tossing it into the car.
With a scowl, Alec opened the door and got into the car too. Jace followed, still laughing his ass off.
"You are such a jerk sometimes."
"Oh lighten up, Lightwood."
When Jace grinned once more, Alec punched him on the shoulder.
"Auch. Stop it, or I'm calling Maryse."
Alec rolled his eyes and muttered.
"Jeez..."
"Now, lets go see the Knicks!"
Jace quickly drove off, heading towards the game. Alec could feel his heart beating faster and faster.
Entering the court, Alec searched the room, looking for Magnus, but there were too many people. It was impossible to see anything.
"I'll go get us some beers, you stay at our seats."
Before Alec could answer, Jace walked away.
"Fine... I'll just wait here."
Alec was quite impressed with the seating. It was front and center. And he was pretty sure it was nearly right behind the bench for the Knicks. If he was right, he would be able to see Magnus soon. Stretching his neck all he could, he glanced all over the court, searching for Magnus, when he felt a body sitting down in Jace's chair.
"Did you get the beer already?"
Alec reach out to take his, without looking.
"I didn't know I was supposed to bring beer."
The voice made Alec's heart Jump and beat irregular.
"Magnus..."
Slowly he turned around to face the man that owned his heart, mind and soul.
"Alexander. It's so wonderful to see you. I hoped you would come."
Alec sat gaping. He couldn't speak, he didn't remember how.
"Magnus, it's time."
An elderly man called from the stairs and caused Magnus to stand up.
"I'm going to this bar after the game."
Magnus handed him a card with a name and address.
"I hope I'll see you there. The both of you."
Alec looked up behind Magnus and saw Jace standing right behind him with an evil glare.
Crap!
Without waiting for an answer, Magnus walked past Jace and down to the benches where the team was going to be.
"So, is there something you wish to tell me, brother."
Alec covered his face in his hands.
Fuck! This wasn't good.
