Scene 9a-Aiden's room-evening-The Court Case

EMMA: So I called the cops, and your mother is denying everything. We agreed to go to court. Are you fine missing school?

ETHAN: If it is to put my Mom in the right place, then yes. She will be sorry. Oh, um one thing. I have been cutting, and, I would bring my knife to school. I want you to take it from me (holds out knife)

EMMA: Ethan. Thanks for your honesty. Just wondering. Do you want to go to a therapist anytime soon?

ETHAN: That would be wonderful.

EMMA: Okay. I will get you an appointment for Saturday.

ETHAN: Thank you.

(Ethan hugs Emma, then she exits)

AIDEN: Justice is served.

ETHAN: I am not sure fully if I want to go to court. I love my mother, or I did. I just want her to realize she is wrong.

WILLIAM: (WILLIAM Claps and steps off the platform as it moves backwards) This kid has got to learn that court is the only option if he wants to teach his mother. (Claps and the platform moves back) The only way to get that is through court.

ETHAN: Well, then court it is.

AIDEN: GIVE US JUSTICE
GIVE US FREEDOM
ETHAN WILL LIVE
AND WE WILL WORK IN TANDEM
IF COURT IS THE BEST OPTION THEN WE TAKE IT
THE CASE IS NOW ON TRIAL

Scene 10b-a courtroom-midday-The Court Case

JUDGE: This court case is now in session. Mr. Riley, representing for the defendant, make your claim.

LAWYER 1/KEEGAN RILEY: MY CLIENT HAS NOT HURT THIS CHILD ILLEGALLY.
THE MARKS WERE NEVER PERMANENT AND THE SLAPS WERE ALL OPEN HANDED.

LAWYER 2/JACOB REGAN: OBJECTION YOUR HONOR, THE CLIENT HAS BEEN PUNCHED AND BRUISED.
HE STARTED CUTTING AND THAT IS THE TRUTH.
HIS BRUISES LASTED MONTHS AND HERE IS THE PROOF.
HERE IS A PHOTO OF HIM BEFORE THE COURT'S LOOP.
PERMISSION TO TAKE THE FLOOR?

JUDGE: PERMISSION GRANTED.

REGAN: I would like to call Aiden to the stand.
DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE ABUSE?

AIDEN: NOT UNTIL A WEEK AGO.

REGAN: ARE YOU HIS BOYFRIEND?

AIDEN: YES I AM.

REGAN: DID HE TELL YOU HIS MOM DOESN'T ACCEPT HIM?

AIDEN: ON MARCH 1st WHEN WE STARTED DATING. A DAY AFTER HE CAME OUT.

REGAN: WHEN DID YOU START NOTICING BRUISES?

AIDEN: A MONTH AFTER WE STARTED DATING.

REGAN: AS YOU CAN SEE
PLAIN AS CAN BE
THIS WITNESS PROVES
EVIDENCE YOU CAN'T REFUSE
AND HIS BROTHER HAS THE SAME AMOUNT OF INFORMATION.

JUDGE: I ALREADY MADE A VERDICT.
LOOKING AT THE STATE OF ETHAN, WE SEE THAT HE IS ABUSED
AND CAROL,
IN THIS CASE YOU LOSE

AIDEN, WILLIAM, and ETHAN: FINALLY JUSTICE!
