|Y/N|'s POV|

I look at the other detective and smile a little, now would be a damn good time for a cup of tea. Gavin's starts the engine and begins driving to some form of destination, I still have no clue how to find my way around here but Gavin seems to know his way so maybe he wasn't too bad to have around, after all. Besides, it's not like he wasn't pleasing to look at either... Hold on a freaking moment-
"|Y/N|, we're here." The male in question's voice cuts through my thoughts once again as he climbs out of the car and I'm quick to follow, seeing him heading towards a small corner café.

I couldn't help but smile as I step inside, the smells of fresh coffee and hot chocolate greeting me as I close the door behind me. The place was lovely, more like the inside of a cabin than a café. I follow Gavin over to a corner and window booth, sitting across from him. He leans back in his seat, looking out of the window with the smallest of smiles on his lips. It was, dare I say, it was adorable.

"Thank you, by the way. I didn't mean to freak out a little bit back there." I say, interrupting the silence we were sitting in. Gavin turns his gaze to me and shakes his head a little bit,
"Don't be sorry, it's something everyone goes through for at least one case, you know?" He mumbles. He seemed completely relaxed here so I'm guessing that this place means a lot to him. Even though he was relaxed, how tired he looked was beginning to show, the dark circles under his eyes seeming more prominent than before but maybe I just hadn't had the time to notice. He raises an eyebrow when he notices me looking at him.
"What?" He asks, looking a little lazy slouched in the booth. "I'm just... You look tired." I reply, turning my gaze down to the table and folding my arms on it. "... I am tired..." He says, almost more to himself than to me. Once again, I look at the man in front of me, watching as he stares out of the window, lost in his own thoughts. I couldn't help but feel a little bad about it, seeing him like this. It makes me begin to wonder just what goes on inside the head of a man such as Gavin.

A few moments later, a male walks over to us, sporting a note pad and a pen.

"Good afternoon, I'm Evan and I'll be serving you. What can I get you?" Gavin was the first to order, just a simple, plain ol' coffee. I think for a moment before ordering my favourite, a/an |Favourite Drink|. The man nods and happily wanders off, leaving me and Gavin alone once more.

"So, tell me about yourself, detective." I say with a soft smile, looking at him.

|Gavin's POV|

I look at the male in front of me and hum before looking down at the table and thinking to myself. What was there to say? I'm a detective. That's it. There's nothing else I do with my life besides work so what can I say?

"There isn't really much to tell. I live for my work and that's about it, really. You already know I have a cat." I say with a slight shrug, not thinking of anything else to add. I mean, I'm hardly going to say that I've been living with no one since my accident and that I haven't been right since. That's not what he's asking Gavin, so shut up. I nod, signalizing that that was that. The male shakes his head, resting his head on his hand and gazing at me. You know, he looked a little cute like that.
"Oh, come on, Reed. There's got to me more than that! Where are you from? How old are you? Are you married? Come on." I huff out a small, deep laugh, "Well, aren't you a nosey little prick? Okay, I'll answer your questions - Here. Old and no." |Y/N| practically starts pouting like a child as I answer the questions, damn, he really is nosey.

"Gavin, I'm only trying to get to know you because your my partner, that's all." I look at him and for some reason, I didn't like that. I press my lips together and nod a little bit.
"Right, right. Fine... I'm from here. Born and raised. Never really knew my family, they all worked in the station and I do too, now. I never really had an interest in anything other than being a detective but you know, I'm one now, so why worry? I'm 36. I'm not married and don't want to be. Love disgusts me. And not much else."

|Y/N| was listening to to me intently, nodding after every sentence. He seemed to be really interested, much to my own confusion. He then looks at Evan as he places our orders on the table, |Y/N| happily picks up his drink and takes a sip, letting out a soft noise at the taste. You know, he reminds me of a cat, now that I that I think about it.
"Anyway, let's just... Enjoy our drinks." I say, picking up my cup and holding it against my chest, liking the way it warmed me up a little bit.
"Aren't you going to return the question, Reed?" |Y/N| asks, rasing an eyebrow with an amused expression over his features. "And why would I want to do that, |L/N|, it's not like I'm interested." With that, |Y/N|'s face contorted into surprise, obviously not expecting my answer. I smirk and he looks away, pressing his lips together into a thin line, thinking. I had to chuckle, rolling my eyes and taking a small gulp of my coffee. I then sigh, looking away from his lips and now looking at his face,
"Alright, alright, same question."

"Well, I wasn't born here, I was born in |Place name|. I grew up there as well. I was always close with my family, especially my little sister. I moved here after I finished my training course to become an officer. I got the opportunity to become a detective and I wasn't going to pass it up, so here I am. I'm only 25, so there's no way in hell I'm married." He says, seeming happy to be talking about himself. Well, no... I don't think it was that, I think he was just glad to be able to get to know someone.

|Y/N|'s POV|

I look at Gavin as I speak and for once, he seemed to be listening. He lets out a soft hum and nods, putting his cup down,
"Well, it's alright for some, hey?" He says, his sentence a half sigh. "What's that supposed to mean?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrows together and spinning my cup around on the table as I speak. "I mean, it's easy for some to grow up without hardships." He says, voice dripping with annoyance. Though, I feel like it wasn't directed towards me...

I look at the liquid in my cup and bite my bottom lip, thinking to myself. What I'm learning about this man is that he's lonely, has a cat and dislikes everyone. But why? That. That was the question I wanted the answer to but would I ever really get it?

I had an idea then, taking out my phone before typing out a text.

Newbie.
→Hey, would you like to come over for a coffee? You can meet Greg.

Gavin raised an eyebrow at his phone making a noise, taking it out of his pocket and looking at the text on it. He peeks over his phone at me, an eyebrow raised before he began typing. It stopped. And then he started typing again. Soon, my phone makes a soft ping and I look at the

Newbie.
→ Hey, would you like to come over for a coffee?
You can meet Greg.

Lt. Asshole.
→ You better not have shit coffee, prick. I'll be there at seven.
