|Gavin's POV|
After that whole embarrassing event of|Y/N| saying he was going to carry me to my room, I decide to retire for the night, getting into bed and snuggling down into it's covers. Gizmo joins me, curling up against my legs and making my sleeping position somewhat less comfortable. Before long, I begin to fall asleep, nothing too deep but not as restless as most nights. This place has a comforting feeling to it and I didn't mind it, really.
The next morning was odd, I didn't have my usual morning routine of getting up and showering for ages. Instead, I was woken by |Y/N| telling me that he had breakfast ready for me. I wander into the kitchen and look at the breakfast that sat on the table, waiting to be consumed while I wasn't really in the mood for it. I sit and eat as much as I can before I was interrupted by my "house mate".
"Gavin, you don't have to eat all of it, okay? I'm not going to force you." He says softly, giving me a slight smile from his own place at the table, his food already nearly gone. I nod a little and eat as much as I can, my stomach wanting to reject it.
"The shower is just down the hall, if you want to use it. The lock doesn't work though so... Yeah." He informs me as he begins tidying off the table, which I help him with. Maybe being around someone often wouldn't be such a bad thing...
I get into the shower and take my time with things, seeing no reason to rush since it was still early. I look over the scars and fresh marks that were littering my forearms, scrunching my nose up a little. The disgusting yet oh, so comforting look to them makes my stomach feel weird but that wasn't the reason for my uneasiness.
'What if |Y/N| properly sees them?'
That. That was what was bothering me the most. The thought of someone so fragile and kind seeing the mess that is myself. It's as almost as if I wanted to protect that man from what I really am. What I can't bring myself to change but it was also what |Y/N|'s plan was. The change me. To help. But should I really subject him to such torment? Subject him to ME?
Shaking my head, I wash myself and my hair, still swimming in those thoughts that were beginning to drown me. Once done and dressed, I venture into the living room, putting my hand into my pockets, feeling them shake a little as my eyes fall on |Y/N| who was raking his fingers through his hair in attempt to tame it. I couldn't help but crack a small smile before quickly letting it drop when |Y/N|'s gaze was on me, sending my body into a weird sort of shiver. That kid and staring, I swear.
"You're starin-"
"Yeah, I know. Ready?"
|Y/n|'s POV|
I look at Gavin who seemed to be a little better after having a shower. He was dressed and ready for work, which was a great sight to see. We both exit the house and get into Gavin's car, heading off towards the office. Now, it was time for me to figure out what the hell we were working on. Death. Bite marks. What the hell is happening?
At our desks, Fowler hands me the file he needed to give to me. Gavin, of course, had a coffee in his hand and was sitting at his desk, flicking a pen on it.
"Gavin. Care to look?" I question, making the man look at me. He gives a shrug and pulls his chair over to me, sitting beside me and leaning on my desk so he could read too.
"What do we already know?"
"Well, there is evidence of bite marks, a few scratches but not from struggle. No traces of DNA or anything on the body. The head had to be removed when the were transferring the body here, it wouldn't have stayed on otherwise." I inform him, watching his face contort into slight distaste. He scratches his head and then looks at me.
"What if it was an Android?" He suggests, obviously thinking of something.
"What do you mean?"
"Think about it. No DNA. No traces of struggle. Nothing that suggests a human did it." He shrugs, resting his head on his hand and fiddling with the corner of the page. Gavin might not be wrong. I nod, placing a hand on his shoulder
"Will you be alright while we go into the autopsy room?" I ask. I didn't particularly want Gavin to go into the room but I couldn't exactly stop him. Gavin gets up, which was answer enough and pulls his jacket around himself more as I follow him into the room. We're greeted by one of the members of staff who directs us to Solomon, our main mortician. He gives a small grin,
"Well, isn't it Detroit's favourite detective? Hello to you too, Gavin." Gavin grumbles something unintelligible under his breath and glances at me.
"Solomon, that body that came in. Anything to report?" I step closer to direct the mortician away from teasing Gavin.
"Yes, actually." He holds out a box of latex gloves and Gavin and I take a pair, pulling them on. Solomon puts the box down and brings us over to a metal table, leaning on the edge.
"I found something. A.. flake, if you will, of skin. Human. They belong to a human. But there's also no traces spit, hair anything that I can go off except that one flake, which will be an absolute bitch to work with. Here, there's also something weird about this. Feel...."
He slides his hand into the opening on the bodies chest as if he was just trying to get a cake out of a tin. Gavin seemed a little uneasy, mind you, so was I, but I hesitantly slid my hand in, rummaging around inside this.. no, don't think like that. You had a nice breakfast, keep it down.
"There. Anything abnormal, detective |L/N|?"
I really had to bite my lip as I feel around, not having a clue what I was doing.
"It's... Cold?"
"No shit. He's dead. No, I mean, feel that."
My hand clutches around something hard with the help of Solomon. I furrow my eyebrows which perked Gavin's curiousity. He raises an eyebrow as I announce
"Fake?"
"That's right. His heart isn't biological. It's Android material."
|Also, say hello to Solomon, the newest addition to this book. I hope you'll grow to love him too-|
