Chapter 15: To Trust or Not To Trust?
The door flew open with a loud bang that made the walls full of paintings shake and rattle. There were three tall, muscular men, the first was about thirty, bald, with ink tattoos running up his arm, neck and stopping at his head. The next was in his mid twenties, short dirty blond hair, warm brown eyes that didn't suit his stern expression. The last looked totally bemused by the whole situation, he leaned against the door frame, his arms crossed across his chest, an amused smile plastered on his face as his dark hair fell just out of his obsidian green eyes.
"What the hell is she doing out?!" Mr Baldy said as he stalked into the room.
Within seconds Tom was up, blocking his path to me, stranding his ground. His fists were balled at his sides and his shoulders rolled back as if preparing for a fight.
"I told you, she's not staying in that jail cell." Tom's voice was stern and demanding and he didn’t even raise his voice.
"It's not your decision."
"Try and take her then."
"Ok, everyone take a step back and calm down." The one with the green eyes said as walked into the room, a smirk still wide on his face. He positioned himself between Baldy and my brother as if he was ready to break up a fight.
I looked over to the other guy standing by the door still, he looked a little shaken, no where near as aggressive as the rest and almost innocent.
"I don't trust him."
"And I don't trust you!" Tom yelled back, his control leaving him.
"Ok, I get it, no one trusts anyone, but hey, Thomas is right, we can't lock her up for the week, you can't take her back with you because you'll bite her before the weeks done and Paul over there will probably lose his pack and her before the weeks over." Green eyes said logically reasoning with them.
"So what, you want to take her?" Baldy said frustration clear in his voice.
"It's an option, or leave her here with her brother."
"No. Move her out now." Baldy demanded before turning on his heel and storming out of the room with the blond one - Paul - trailing after him.
Green eyes and my brother exchanged a look but I found it hard to pin point exactly what either one was thinking. Tom stepped aside and furiously walked out of the room, slamming the door shut behind him. Green eyes came closer and took a seat on the opposite side of the couch, his arm rested on the back of the couch while the other rested on his knee, his face was relaxed and his smile lit up his entire face.
"So your the one all the fuss is about?"
"Hi I'm Dean. Alpha of the summer isle." He introduced himself flashing me kind a smile.
"Melody." I kept it short and sweet.
"So, looks like you'll be rooming with me for the next week."
Yes because that was on the top of my to do list this week.
"Why can't I stay here?"
"No one trust's your brother not to send you back to Carter." He said plainly.
Well how can I argue with such logic?
"And if I refuse?"
"Then I'll have to use force and I really don't want to do that."
Scrunching up my face slightly I raised my hand to touch the bump on my head from my previous experience with 'forceful tacktics'.
Going quietly it was.
