Chapter 19: Inconsiderable Bad Luck

"Your up early." Dean smiled at me as I made my way down the stairs in my jean shorts and plain black t-shirt, my hand running down the cool railing - steadying me. It has been a couple of days since the whole incident and I didn't know exactly how to feel.

I could feel the anxiety and stress from Thomas even though he was no longer with me but he checked in every night either via mind link or technology - I suppose it depends on what mood his in. I almost expected to feel worry or even doubt coming off Dean but he seemed sure of himself - and that's what scared me. He was going to fight and either die - because there was no way Carter would spare anyone of these wolves who challenged him - or he would kill Carter, neither was a desired outcome.

I had decided that I would save everyone the trouble and run. I figured that if I wasn't here then they couldn't fight over me but that didn't go according to plan.

I  pushed the door open slightly waiting and checking that there was no alarm. They never did put alarms on their doors, they just think that because their the alpha no one would dare steal from them or try to break in... idiots. I slid my foot out of the door and then the rest of my body, careful not to open the door too wide because I wasn't going to risk the creck of the door waking them up. I had lived with werewolves all my life and I knew that the sound of a door opening wasn't enough to wake them up - unless it creaked. Closing the door behind I smiled to myself. Ha! Take that bitches no one can lock me up and get...

Oops.

As I turned around and started walking my face collided with a hard wall like chest, the warmth radiating off the person told me they weren't all human. Damn I was so close... well maybe I only got a couple of steps but it was still closer then if I didn't try.

I looked up and saw blue eyes blazing down at me and I recognized the guard that has been in Dean's confidence since I've been here. "Hi." I smiled and waved. When doubt just smile and wave.

"You should be in bed."

"Should I? Huh guess I didn't get the memo." I gave him a rather clueless look and tried to act dumb.

"Well now you have." He said gripping my shoulder and spinning me around so that I was now facing the door once again. "Bed. Now." He said in an ordering tone that just made me want to roll my eyes and slap him. I don't do what my Alpha Mate or brother tell me what makes you think I'm going to do what you tell me too?

I sighed deeply and decided I would just try a different exit. Taking the two steps back to the door I opened it up slightly and stepped back through being sure to wave at talking wall I had bumped into in the process. He looked at me a little disapprovingly but quick smirked showing his amusement.

Walking back into the house I decided to try a window. I walked to the other side of the house and decided it was far enough from the front door guard for him not to see me. Gently craning the window open with one of the statues that sat on the desk in the study I managed to open it far enough to sneak through. Silently putting one foot through I ducked my head and pulled he rest of my body through and stood up just where the window was. I took a deep breath and flicked my hair over my left shoulder and focused on trying to get away from the house - where I hadn't worked that out just yet.

Taking a few steps I made it to the fence and realized the gate was over back towards the front door. Shit, oh well if you can't go threw it, you can't go under it, over it will just have to do - oh my god I really need to stop reading these little kid books to Harley. Note to self, when you get back home read him history or something useful. I reached up and fixed a tight grip on the black bars and started to pull myself up with all of my strength. Getting to the top I somehow managed to get my pants caught on one of the sharp bars almost impaling myself on the bar. A small scream escaped my lips as I fell a little only to be caught by my now torn pants around the bar. My hands quickly flew to my cover my mouth as I waited and looked around for a guard.
