Daniel's POV (still):

I felt someone shaking me. Then,

Everything stopped and I just saw darkness. I felt the wind ruffle through my hair as I shuffled against a hard wood floor. I was 12 and it was 5 am. Today was the day that the church would purify the city. I had become the priest favorite at this point. Given, he still treated me like nothing but a pebble, but I was given food and a bed so, I would not complain.

I looked up and the counter. A large supply of Kool-Aid and poison. I felt a gut wrenching feeling as I looked at the ingredients. I heard faint footsteps of boots from the stairs, so I acted like the priest wanted me to act. I smiled and acted like I was preparing for today. In reality I didn't want to see more people like Jason die.

He walked into the kitchen and a wicked, small, smile played on his lips. "Exited?" He said in his terrifying voice. I nodded, like I was excited. "Yes Sir!" He nodded. "Good, but get dressed in your suit first, we are not sinners, are we?" I thought of what happened a year ago when Jen almost had to drink because she didn't wear her pink dress. "No sir, we are not."  He smiled. "Very well, my apprentice"

I ran up to my small room. I locked the door. I looked at a picture of all of my friends. Half were dead. 5 of then escaped. I sighed. The only four left were me, Jen, Rosa, and Fredrick. Rosa and Fredrick weren't even kids. They were "counselors". If you could call them that. They were more like security. I looked at Jason. He was my best friend since we were 4. He found out too much though.

I wiped away my tears and changed quickly. The priest was waiting for me outside my room. He had the two counselors carry the items to the car. Jen was already there. She was wearing a similar outfit to last year.

I walked to the other side of the priest like had in other years and walked out to the limo. He had got it from my parents after he...

I shook out the thought and got in the back with Jen. He was riding in front. Fredrick was driving while Rosa sat next to him. Jen and me were left alone in the back. I knew she didn't like dresses.

We both wish we had escaped with the other kids. We could have been free, or dead. But we needed to stay. To find out more without getting caught. I watched as the too familiar church got out of sight and the city was visible.

The cult said that this was a party. In reality it was a party for "acention" whatever that means.

We stepped out of the car. As soon as we did, we heard from the priest, "Welcome everyone to the block party hope your all thirsty. I will be your host, Camden. Nice to see you all, maybe for the last time!"
