Monday morning came faster than lightning. I have been dreading facing Declan at school all weekend. I know Miles would never leave me alone with him intentionally but with Miles you never know. The first part of the day was a breeze. I was more worried about lunch time. I entered the cafeteria and I would have to admit luck was not on my side. I ran straight into Declan.

"Mel, can I have a word with you?" Declan asks

"No one except Miles calls me Mel! What do you want?" I raise my voice.

"I am sorry Melanie. I would like to apologize and have another chance to see how this goes."

"I accept your apology but no." I shut the idea down quickly.

Declan holds his hand up showing me he means no harms and tries to reason with me"Just as friends? What if we hang out here and there. It doesn't even have to be a date."

I stood there contemplating. I am fighting with fire. I can't help having this girl crush. I decided that just hanging out as friends wouldn't be too bad. I really need to learn to say no to Declan.

"Okay Declan just as friends"

"Great! How about you come have lunch with me today?"

"What about Miles?"

"Miles actually had to run home."

"Again? That's odd."

"Yeah I guess he keeps forgetting the same thing. The good news is he gave me another granola bar just for you."

"How did he know I would forgive you?" I question Declan. This entire situation isn't adding up.

Declan shrugs "Your guess is just as good as mine."

The funny thing about Miles is you never know what he is up to. I can't seem to budge this gut feeling that they are keeping something from me.
