I am saying my final goodbye to my father when I start to hear Miles.

Did Miles just read one of the embarrassing birthday cards out loud in front of people. Oh boy I have got to get back and quick. I close my eyes and I hear more background sounds.
I opened my eyes and I see the hospital room.
"Miles" I whisper
My mom squeals and everyone realizes I am awake.
"Melanie sweetheart!" My mom cries.
"Mel!" Miles says as he hugs me
The nurse in the room makes a phone call. "Doctor Kane hurry up Melanie Fields is awake. Yes sir she seems to remember Miles."
"You aren't throwing a party without me are you?" I ask waiting to see everyone's response.
"Mel it wouldn't be a birthday without a party." Miles says as tears of joy runs down his face.
"Well Miles can you read that card again to me?"
"Wait, you actually heard that?" Miles says as he runs his hands through his hair.
"Yep I heard everything." I say smiling " I really would like to hear about all the promises you made."
"Don't worry Mel I plan to keep this promise for another time." Miles winks at me
Everyone in the room besides Miles and I respond with "Eww!"
I try to sit up as I hold Miles hand and say " There is something I am dying to tell you."
"Oh yeah?" Miles says looking intrigued.
"I love you Miles Whitmore"
"I love you too Mel."
Miles leans over and kisses me and in that exact moment I know I made the right decision.
