24| I apologise

      NOVEMBER squealed as she sat in her seat. The hockey stadium roared with crazy fans from both hockey teams playing.

Currently, The North Stars had the puck as they raced down the ice. Nova usually would be up on her toes in an intense moment but Averman just had to distract her by taking her popcorn.

"Averman give it back!" She hollered as he was turned away from her, munching on the popcorn happily.

"hold on.." Averman mumbled as he kept eating.

Nova tried to reach over him and grab the bucket but she was then stopped when an eruption of cheers happened around her.

She furrowed her eyebrows and looked beside her to see Charlie and Bombay with their drinks up in the air as they cheered.

"What happened?!" Averman and Nova shouted simultaneously over the people. Charlie sat back down and looked at the two.

"North Stars just scored and are now winning!" Charlie exclaimed. Nova nodded and took this time to snatch the popcorn out of Averman's hands.

He looked at her with a bewildered expression as she quickly stood up and gave an innocent smile. She walked over towards the end of the isle where Connie and Guy were. She had to constantly step over peoples feet as she passed until she reached where her two best friends were.

She smirked down at Connie as she saw Guy looking off at the ice with a smile on his face. Connie grew red as Nova had pointed out that they were holding hands.

She leaned down to Connie's level and made sure Guy couldn't hear what they were saying. "i told you..."

Connie laughed and shoved Nova playfully. Apparently, Connie shoved Nova a bit too hard as Nova had stumbled back and lost her balance. Luckily, she didn't fall back onto the row behind her, but her popcorn went flying. Connie's eyes widened as Nova quickly snapped her attention backwards. Nova's jaw dropped as she watched her popcorn fall onto someone's head as if it were in slow motion.

"crap!" Nova cried out as she quickly went around the row and stood in front of the person with the popcorn. "I'm so sorry!"

Nova grabbed the bucket from them and internally hoped that the person she just covered in popcorn would be one of her teammates.

The person chuckled, giving Nova a sense of relief as she knew that chuckle. She could sense that chuckle from a mile away.

Nova looked up and sighed in relief as she grabbed the popcorn bucket and helped the person up. "I'm so sorry, Adam!" She apologised again, "It was an accident"

Adam smiled warmly. "It's okay..." Adam said, "um- i'm gonna go clean myself off"

Nova nodded and stood in position as Adam walked around her and out towards the bathroom. Connie and Guy tried to contain their laughs as Nova was a red as a tomato.

"is he gone?" Nova asked Connie before she decided to turn around. Connie stifled her laugh as she nodded. Nova sharply turned around and walked away with her empty bucket of popcorn. Acting as if noting happened.

"may i have a refill on this bucket and a two small bags of popcorn?" Nova asked the lady working at the concession. The women nodded as she grabbed Nova's popcorn off the counter and walked away.

November waited patiently as she stood there, tapping her fingers on the counter. She could smell the popcorn being made and she smiled contently at that current moment.

"hey" She heard a familiar voice greet from behind her. She looked back and smiled before turning her entire body to face them.

"hey," She said softly as she looked at them and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "sorry again.."

Adam chuckled and shook his head solemnly. "you don't need to keep apologising. It wasn't even your fault"

Nova shrugged. "sorry.."

Adam raised his eyebrows at her and gave her a look before she registered what she had said. She shut her eyes as she let out a light, airy laugh.

"okay.." She smiled, "i understand now.."

Adam opened his mouth to speak but was stopped as he looked behind Nova and smiled apologetically.

Nova turned around and saw the lady standing there with a bucket of popcorn and two smaller bags of popcorn in her hands. Nova gasped quietly before taking the popcorn and walking off as fast and she could. Adam walked off after her and laughed as her face began to grow red again.

"how long was she standing there?" Nova asked him

"about two minutes"

November's jaw dropped and she snapped her gaze to Adam. "and you didn't bother to tell me ?!" she whisper-yelled

Adam shrugged and couldn't help but smile at the smaller girls flustered demeanour. "i apologise?"

"damn right you do!" Nova said in a whisper-yell tone again, "here.."

Adam looked down at the small bag of popcorn, that was now in his hand, before he gave Nova a confused look.

Nova glanced at him as they turned the corner, walking into the stadium of the roaring fans. "it's a apology popcorn bag"

"oh thanks," Adam smiled, "who's the other popcorn for?"

"Averman" She said casually. Adam nodded and sat down in his previous seat as he watched Nova walk off, over to Charlie and Averman.

She sat between the two and she handed Averman the bag of popcorn, watching as he squealed like a girl and hugged her tightly.

November's smile grew after she pulled away from the hug. She glanced over to where Adam sat and saw as he was already looking at her. The two locked eyes and gave warm smiles before Nova looked away due to Charlie talking to her.

Adam watched from his seat with a smile on his face. He remembered the first time him and Nova really had a long and proper conversation. Back when she was sad and alone in the empty ice rink. She wouldn't say a thing to him and all he could do was watch as her bright green eyes stared down at the empty ice. Even back when she was sad, he still found her beautiful.

So now, as he watched her laughing with her friends, he couldn't help but smile contently at her, Thinking she was even more beautiful than before.
