26| My hero?

      "BANKS, COLLINS, take the ice!" Bombay ordered. The two nodded and hopped over the boards as the beginning of the third period commenced. They were now in their second game of playoffs and after beating the Hornets, The Cardinals were quite scared.

Adam took center as Nova was on his right. Averman and Fulton played defence with Terry as left wing. Currently, the score was 3-2 for the ducks with about five minutes left on the clock.

Nova watched intently as the referee dropped the puck on the ice. Adam won the puck and slid it over to Nova but unfortunately, the cardinals were too fast.

The player intercepted the pass and began to bolt down to ice. Fulton charged at him and knocked him down as he quickly got the puck and passed it up to Nova.

She could sense a Cardinal player behind her so as she received the pass, she swerved around the player and backhanded the puck to Adam.

He quickly skated up with it, dodging each player that charged at him. Nova cheered him on as she skated along, waiting for him to score.

Adam winded his stick back and got ready for a shot. Suddenly, he passed back to November, making her quite stunned.

"shoot it, Nova!" She heard Guy holler. Nova blinked and quickly flicked the puck into the net.

She smiled and rose her stick up in the air as she skated around the net happily. She was skating over to Guy as he was going to her, about to engulf her into a hug.

Just as she was about to wrap her arms around her best friend, a mighty hug got between them. She was suddenly knocked up the ground with someone hugging her tightly.

"woah!" She panicked as she fell into her butt. She glanced down to see the back of the players jersey as she couldn't see their face.

Nova snickered you herself before hugging them back. "you nearly killed me, Banks"

Adam let go of her and smiled before he stood up. He held his hand out for her and she gladly took it.
"sorry," Adam apologised, "i guess i got kinda carried away"

Nova scrunched up her nose before she turned to see the entire team racing over to them. Her eyes widened before she grabbed Adam and hid behind him.

Everyone grouped into a hug with Banks and Nova in the middle. Adam groaned and looked behind him to see Nova smiling up innocently.

He gave her a fake scowl but it didn't last long as he couldn't help but smile at the small girl who hid behind him.

"Catch!" Nova heard Charlie holler at her as he threw her a can of root beer. Nova barely caught it as fumbled around until it finally rested in her hands.

"Charlie!" Nova said in a panic, "don't do that!"

Charlie smiled innocently at her before walking off to take off his hockey pads. Nova gave him a playful glare as she walked towards Guy, Averman, and Connie.

Connie was looking at the mirror in her locker as she brushed out her sweaty hair. Averman pushed up his glasses and looked at his unopened can of pop while Guy sat there casually, sipping on his coke.

Nova opened the locker that sat beside Connie's. She fixed up all her hockey stuff and placed it in her bag before fixing herself up. She let out the side braid in her hair, making her hair slightly curly at the bottoms.

She slipped on her purple soccer sweater that said ravens soccer on the right sleeve in bold letters.

"Averman what are you doing?" She heard Guy ask as she closed her locker and looked at her two friends.

She watched as Averman snickered and turn to her. She furrowed her eyebrows as Averman smiled innocently.

"what's up, Averman?" She asked cautiously

Averman pushed up his glasses and shrugged. "can you open this for me?"

Averman held out his pop with a smile on his face. Nova cocked at eyebrow, stealing a glance at Guy who closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose.

Nova looked back to Averman shook her head. "Not a chance, Buddy"

Averman gave a defeated look before shrugging tilting the pop away from him. He tugged at the little metal clip that held the pop closed.

"Averman no!" Nova and Guy shouted simultaneously.

Suddenly, The pop can exploded all over Connie. Her jaw dropped as she dropped her comb instantly.

She slowly turned around to meet face to face with a apologetically grinning Averman- fear laced into his face.

Connie narrowed her eyes at him and nearly jumped at him if it weren't for Guy holding her back.

"Let go of me so i can beat his sorry butt!" Connie growled as she struggled from his grasp.

Averman stepped back a bit, not acknowledging the fact that Connie's best friend stood beside him with her own, unopened bottle of pop.

"open up, Ginger" Nova snickered before a force of rootbeer splashed onto Averman's face.

Connie calmed down and laughed as Guy let go of her, Laughing as well.

Nova dropped the now empty bottle of pop before bolting away from the soaking redhead.

He grabbed the can of pop Guy was previously drinking as he chased her around the room.

This made everyone laugh and look at them, and eventually, Peter joined in and hollered: "Pop War!"

Charlie shook his pop hard before opening it, making it explode up to the ceiling. He swung it around as everyone got wet- even the coaches joined in.

Nova hid behind Adam again as Averman tried to spray her. Pop bursted onto the blondes face as he stood there with his jaw dropped. Averman's eyes widened before he backed away and ran off.

Adam looked back at Nova with his eyebrow cocked upwards.

She gave him an innocent smile. "my hero?"

He couldn't help but smile back as he held out his hand for her to take. She took it and stood up with a smile.

"You know," Adam began, "i'm basically your bodyguard now.."

Nova scoffed and rolled her eyes playfully, "where can i hire a new one?"

Adam let his jaw drop as he gave out a fake hurt expression. He placed his hand on his heart as he dramatically turned away from her.

"aww," Nova said in a baby voice, "is little Banksy sad?"

Adam pouted as he looked back at her and shook his head. "No..." He said in a baby voice back, "Banksy is mad! Banksy is fuming!"

Nova smirked and laughed to herself. "I was hoping you'd say that"

"what?"

Nova pointed up behind and over his head. He quickly turned his head as a tub of water and ice splashed him and Nova.

Charlie and Averman dropped the empty tub as fear arose on their faces. They pushed and shoved each other, attempting to get away from Nova the fastest.

As she was about to charge at them, she felt a force pull her back before she was pushed to the ground. She rubbed and arm before looking up to see Adam on the ground as well. That was then that the two realised, they never let go of each others hands...
