Eva POV

I woke up before Hope, as usual, but something was off. She was whimpering and twitching in her sleep. Normally I'd think it was a sex dream but she seemed scared.

I gently shook her shoulder. "Hope, wake up." She didn't budge so I did it again. "Hope, wake up."

That time she did wake up. But, she accidentally sent out a pulse of magic, sending me flying across the room.

She rushed over to me and helped me up. "Oh, my God. Eva, are you okay?"

"That's going to hurt like a bitch." I groaned as I let her pull me up.

"What happened?" She asked me.

"You were having a nightmare. And then you screamed and some magical wave thing hit me, and now I have art supplies where no one should." I explained, trying to add some humor.

She looked genuinely upset that she had hurt me. "I'm so sorry babe."

"Hey, it's okay." I told her with a slight smile to show that I was fine. I then wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her just to show that I was serious. "No harm done, just covered in paint. Want to help me wash it off."

That got her to smile and roll her eyes. "You're such an idiot."

"So is that a no?" I asked with a grin.

"Just..." I could see her resolve breaking and her shoulders relax."Brush your teeth first."

I laughed at that. "You too."

----

After breakfast, I left my friends to go talk to Dr. Saltzman. Whatever happened this morning was strange and had to be fixed.

I walked into his office and knocked on the door frame. "Hey, Dr. Saltzman, uh, can we talk?"

He looked up from his work and waved me in. "Yeah, of course. I was just doing some Phoenix research for Landon. Please sit down." I sat down in front of him and he laughed slightly. "You, uh got a little..." he said, pointing to my cheek.

I brought my hand up to my cheek and wiped away the paint on it. "Yeah, that was actually what I wanted to talk to you about."

"Paint?" He asked, confused by what I meant.

"Hope." I said, beginning my explanation. "She had a nightmare and when I tried to wake her up, she hit me with a blast of magic. Like she lost control."

"Maybe it's a pregnancy thing." He shrugged, hoping it wasn't too high a deal.

"No, because according to the doctor Hope is about three, almost four months pregnant by now and this has never happened before." I explained. He sighed.

"I'll look into it." He told me.

That made me feel a little bit better so I got up and left his office. We didn't have classes today so I decided to go find entertainment. Hope is busy, so I decided to go find Carlos and the twins.

I walked into Carlos's room and saw him playing the board game that him and the twins invented. They were trying to explain it to Max but the poor kid was so confused.

"What's up?" I asked, grabbing their attention.

Carlos looked up and laughed. " Hey E. You're bored aren't you?"

"No." I said quickly. "Yes." I said, telling the truth. "Hope's busy and I just beat my video game."

"Tough." Max said, being a little shit.
