"Are you a seer?" Ava asked after a few minutes, "I mean, you must be if you foresaw all of this."
"I am," Sophia said quietly, continuing to work.
"Did my father, did he know about- that's why he always talked to you in the garden!" Ava exclaimed happily.
"Yes my dear, that is the reason. I was sad to retire, but being on my feet all day was... not healthy, for an old lady such as myself," Sophia chuckled, "But now I'm training my daughter, have been for so long. She still has lots to learn but she also has a gift for seeing events. Her's just come in puzzles she must decipher."
"Mother I have the herb!" Lola exclaimed, rushing through the door, jar in hand. Sophia quickly opened the lid and poured about a teaspoon into the liquid she had been making.
"Let's move quickly, he isn't the only one in need," Sophia said as she poured the liquid into three separate vials, "I'll stay here and help Eugene, you must find your messenger friend and deliver this to the others," Lola nodded, taking two vials and rushing out the door.
She raced down the path, moving quickly and quietly. She reached the next house down, where a man stood outside. His skin looked of caramel and his hair a chocolate brown.
"Andres!" Lola called out, rushing to him, "I need your help," She handed him a vial, and without a word, he nodded and the two raced towards the town square.
Soon they reached Jared's home. Two royal guards were stationed outside.
"We come with a remedy for two people who have fallen ill. My mother Sophia sent us," Lola explained. The guards let them through, and they found the King, some other guards, and Jared and Iris laying in the doctor's patient cots.
Andres and Lola jumped into action; Jared was far worse off than before. He looked pale, and trembled terribly, "Andres, help me sit him up," Lola said, and he lifted Jared and leaned him against his shoulder. Lola opened his mouth and poured the entire vial down his throat.
After doing the same for Iris, they tended to their fevers in wait, making sure they were both comfortable. "Thank you, Lola, and please thank your mother on my behalf. But where is my daughter?" The King inquired, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"She is safe, with Sophia and Eugene. If you wish to see her, we honestly recommend waiting. Her location is discreet and we weren't followed there. If you go it could risk her safety, and my mother's," Lola finished, putting her hand on the King's arm.
"I understand, god whenever that girl leaves the castle walls something happens... my poor little girl," The King sighed, sitting in a small chair, "Why couldn't she have just listened to her mother?"
