Your P.O.V

It had been over a month since the Queen and I had found out we both shared this strange feeling. We had gotten really close the past days and I was actually happy about that. Yes, happy. I really enjoyed talking to her, walking with her, helping her, guarding her. She was nice and sweet and she had a great sense of humour. She was also so, so smart; I had heard her talking to dignitaries from other kingdoms many times and she always had the perfect answer, her suggestions were right every time and they always left these poor men dumbfounded. She surely knew a lot more than they were thinking.

She had taught me so many new things and I had done the same. We had also realized we had much more in common that we thought at first. And that brought us even closer. Mentally, at least. Both her and I were still in the proccess of getting used to interacting with people and having them around us, so we had both agreed on keeping a specific amount of space between us. But even that, had started to get unnecessary already.

It was really nice to have her around. She never let me feel alone and I really, really appreciated that. She always managed to turn my scowl into a small smile, only when we weren't 'stalked' by other people, of course. I only allowed myself to smile when she was the only one around and she valued that, as much as she valued my trust. She was the only one I trusted after a long time and I was glad she trusted me too.

I was walking down the corridor, at the time. I had never realized how much this castle felt like home. It was like I had spent numerous days there, way before I became a guard. But that was probably because I had passed these rooms and hallways many times throughout the days.

"I'm really tired sis", I heard Princess Anna saying, from the floor above. "Can't it wait for tomorrow?"

"It can", I heard the voice of the Queen and headed towards her direction, "but you said you wanted to play". When I was close enough, I saw she was holding a beautiful wooden chessboard close to her chest, looking at her sister with hopeful eyes.

"I did but I'm tired. Besides, it's really late. You should go to sleep too.", Her Highness yawned.

"You know I have trouble sleeping", the older said and I felt empathy for her; I knew how it was like. "Come on, just one match", she said like a kid that wished for ice cream in a hot summer day.

"I'm sorry Elsa. I don't think I can keep my eyelids open for longer", the Princess said, rubbing her eyes. The young Queen sighed and the sparkle in her eyes vanished.

"Okay", she pouted sadly and my heart broke. "I'll see you tomorrow then".

"What are you gonna do now?", the Princess asked, slowly closing her door.

"Oh you know, I'll just go and sign some more papers until I fall asleep. Obviously", Her Majesty answered, whispering the last word as if she didn't want it to be heard, giving her sister a small smile, but I could see it on her face she was hurt. She didn't want to work, she just wanted to have some fun.

"Okay", the younger said, unable to detect the hurt in her sister's eyes. "Goodnight, Elsa".

"Goodnight, Anna".

I watched as the Queen sighed, hung her head low and started walking away. I couldn't bear seeing her like this.

"I wouldn't say 'no' to a match", I said making her slightly jump in surprise and turn to me. A big smile appeared oh her face when she saw me.

"(Y/N)!"

I walked to her and bowed. "May I have the honor to be your opponent, Your Majesty?", I asked, giving her the smile she had wished to see more on my face.
