Wish

This is part 2 to church.

"nonnas dying"
Those words broke dianne but she was so happy to be in Australia to give her nonna a real goodbye. It was summer 2021 and that year joe and dianne had decided to spend their Christmas with joes family instead of going to Australia but they did say they would go over in the British summer for three weeks. They were half way through their holiday when dianne got the call from her brother Andrew who was at the hospital. It as clear to dianne that he was very emotional and hearing those words "nonnas dying" ripped her into two. Andrew wanted her to come down to the hospital to say goodbye before she passes away. She also wanted to take joe with her as when she met joe she fell in love with him knowing that he was the one for her dot and she was right, two years later they were still going strong.

Dianne rushed into the hospital, finding the room her nonna was in. In the room she saw her 99 year old nonna laying in a hospital bed with Andrew sat at one end of it and rina sat in a chair next to the bed. Dianne walked up to her nonna sitting herself on the edge of her bed. Her nonna reached out for her hand, and dianne gripped onto it. Her nonna placed a soft kiss onto diannes hand which she was holding and smiled. Even though she could die any day now she was still smiling and making the most out of her last couple of days. Dianne let a tear fall from her eye knowing that this could be the last time her nonna saw her and she saw her nonna. She had done so much for dianne ever since she was born. She brought diannes first ever balroom dress which dianne felt like a princess in, she came to every dance show diannes dance school put on, she took dianne to school when her parents where working, she was there when dianne went through her first ever heart break with a boy, she helped ehr find her first job, she followed her round Australia when she did burn the floor, she went and saw every show live on dancing with the stars and she helped dianne move to England by putting down the deposit on her flat. Dianne didn't know what she would do without her nonna, even though she now had joe, he wasn't the same as nonna was. Her cuddles were special and she always held dianne tight, her sense of humour was special, she never failed to make dianne laugh. Joe had all these things but not like her nonna, nobody was like miss buswell.

"dot, I love you"
Her nonna whispered quietly

"I love you too nonna"
Dianne stuttered crying as joe wiped away her tears.
Her nonna looked over to joe who was behind her. She was right two years ago when she said they were made for each other and that they were so smitten for one another, they were still here two years later having fallen in love with each other more each day. She gave joe that look. A nice one but an indication to do something. Joe knew exactly what she was talking about and took diannes hand, helping her up.

"dot... I ummm.... Got to tell you something"
He said

"everything ok Joseph."
She said. Her nonna, mum and brother were all there and Joe knew that a hospital wasn't the place he wanted to do it but it would be special for nonna.

"eve been together 3 and a half years nearly 4 and these years have been the best of my whole entire life. Now your probably wondering what the hell I'm doing so I'll tell you. When I first met your nonna and we went to that Italian restaurant she pulled me aside and handed me something under the table and she said something to me. It was her dying wish. She told me that the one thing she wanted in life was for you to be happy with me and that she wanted me to marry you. To add to that the thing she handed me was a ring. It was the ring your grandfather proposed to her with and she gave it to me and said when you ask dot to marry you, give her this ring. And as it was her dying wish I really wanted to make it come true before she dies. Now I didn't want to do this in a hospital but since your nonna can't go anywhere else and I think it will be more special proposing with her ring with her here, I wanted to ask you a very important question. So dianne buswell..... Will you make me and your nonna the happiest people alive and marry me? "
He said getting on one knee, taking the ring out of his pocket

Dianne smiled and looked behind her to Andrew and her mum who were smiling but then looking to her nonna who she had never seen happier.

" of course i will Joseph "
She smiled

Joe stood up, holding dianne in his arms.

"I love you. You couldn't of done it more perfectly"
She whispered into her ear

He took the ring placing it on her finger. It fitted perfectly. Dianne turned to her nonna who was sat there smiling. Dianne hugged her tightly and that was the last hug her and her nonna ever had......
