Chapter Thirty-Six
Welcome, Spirit of Nature
Explaining the whole scenario to the nations took longer than I'd like to admit.
It took nearly half an hour just to get everyone seated or at least not clumped up chatting with each other. But trying to tell a story was a battle on its own.
"When we arrived, Gracie told us that the seasons could be saved-" I'd barely started before Lovino cut me off.
"Why the fuck would we want to save those asshole?" A low murmur rose around him as others began to wonder the same thing.
Biting the inside of my cheek, I stared at Lovino, "Because they're still essential to your world's stability. The catastrophes that went on were just as much due to their absence," Turning back to the whole group, I continued, "We could save the seasons by finding their original pieces of power given to them by Mother Nature. The only issue is that Gracie is too weak to do the procedure herself-" A chair squeaked against hardwood as I was interrupted a second time.
"Wait, Mrs. Adams is sick? What happened? Is she going to be okay?" Mike placed a hand on the table and leaned forward as though he could see the imaginary ailment from halfway across the room. I motioned for Mike to sit down with a quick swipe of my left hand.
"No, she's not sick. She just doesn't have the same strength she used to and can't do the spell needed. But if I were to get the power then I would be able to bring out the original versions of each season. All of them," No one interrupted me as I finished that statement. The hardness of my words settled over all of them, keeping them firmly in place.
I swallowed, loosening my face and expression, "So we started the power transfer. I would take the spirit of nature and meld it with my own-" Another voice talked over my own and I swear I almost started screaming.
"But isn't that dangerous? Lukas always says power transfers are dangerous at least. Are you okay?" Tino was one of the last people I expected to interrupt me. But with how he sat at the table, head slightly tilted with furrowed eyebrows as he looked at me, I felt all annoyance leave my body.
Goddammit. There's no way I can hate that cutie.
I let out a breath, feeling a pinch in my chest as I remembered the void.
"I'm not taking a portion of her power and using it for my own. I'm combining my own spirit with the spirit of Nature which gives Gracie her powers. So it's more like a transfer of the soul I guess?" I tried to answer the question but I'm not sure I really understood what was going on.
Does my paint analogy mean nothing?
The answer appeared to satisfy Tino but not Yao, judging by the squinting of his eyes and the opening of his mouth.
"That still sounds dangerous." The nation looked to his right where Arthur sat with crossed arms and legs, "Britain, how could you let them do this? It doesn't seem safe at all!"
Arthur immediately sprung into action, mouth dropping in aghast at Yao's accusation, "What do you think I told them? 'Go ahead, let yourself get killed'? I tried to stop them you bloody skeleton!"
Noticing the impending war about to break out on the couch, I sped over and shoved two hands between them. Arthur and Yao both looked at me with wide eyes that still seemed to be annoyed that I went through with this. Ah, the everlasting disappointment. You can't miss it.
"We are not having this discussion again. I'm here aren't I? Not dead? So let's just assume this didn't kill me seeing as I'm not dead yet." I removed my hands with a huff, giving a final glare to the two nations over my shoulder while returning to the front of the room.
