○Clent POV○
I didn't know much about love, but I knew that if I did I would be so in love with June that it hurt. And maybe I was, but just couldn't say it. I wanted to please her, touch her.....taste her. It was maddening.
She was perfect in every way, from the silky curls she always kept in a bun, to her caramel skin and eyes, then down to her petite figure. I had never wanted a barbie doll with fat lips, blue eyes, and huge, unnatural curves. And the truth is I hadn't known what I wanted in a girl until I met her.
I was so busy thinking about June, that I barely heard the scream. It was like background music, until I heard another and realized it was June. Scrambling off the couch I ran to her. I could sense where people were by their heat signature. When I tapped into that sense, the one every Fire Master has, everything went dark. Objects that were inanimate glowed green, people with body heat were red or orange, and cold things were obviously blue or sometimes white.
This sense is called RFA vision, which stands for Reading, Foriegn, Auras.
From what I could see she was in one of our rooms, Alaric's it seemed, but there was something wrong. Her signature was fading blue and wavering. This meant that she must be cold, but even still she has to retain her natural body heat. Signatures that were warm had even parts blue and orange.
Turning off my RFA vision, I burst through Alaric's room in a panic. My mind was racing with endless possibilities, each one worse than the last. After my eyes were finished scanning his room for threats, they were all for June....my precious June. She was on the floor, eyes closed, in Alaric's arms. Her body shook uncontrollably, as if drenched in ice water, but she was dry. Ric cried while rocking her and running his fingers through her loose hair.
I remained frozen in the doorway, staring unseeingly at her twitching hands. I knew she wanted to console him back, but she was physically unable to and it was slowly killing her. I should move. I should scoop her up and warm her. I should do something. But the only thing I could do was....stare. Just stare. Someone crashed into my back, sending me to my knees.
I didn't feel it.
"No, no, no," Cas whispered, stepping past me then quickly falling to his knees on June's other side. He took her hand in his, but dropped it almost immediately. "She's ice cold. What the fuck happened Alaric?" He wasn't exactly angry at Alaric, but the accusation was still there.
"W-we....we....w-were---" He began to stuttered but Kelen quickly cut in, his voice desperate.
"We know what you were doing just tell us how she.....how she got like this. And Cas don't you fucking dare think he had anything to do with this." It was always like Kelen to take the lead. He was our glue. But now....now it was June.
"S-she stopped suddenly and just...j-just fell," his eyes widened as if remembering something, "No...she grabbed her neck."
"What about her neck?" Marus questioned, inspecting it from where he now squatted. "There's nothing...woah. Look at this." They all leaned over her, straining to see something I didn't. All I could do was stare.
Ok, so I was in love and I knew because it felt like my heart was being squeezed and stabbed and shattered into thousands of tiny little peices with her face on it. Everything about my being was hers. She owned me. It was insane to say, but made sense deep down in every way. This was written in the stars long before it came to pass.
And so realizing that I regained control of my limbs and took action. I put both hands on her legs and pushed warmth into her body, directing it up towards her heart. The guys were talking to me but I wasn't listening. My hands began to glow as I concentrated, knowing what to do without really knowing. There was something guiding me, pushing me. I knew what was happening and how to get it out of her system.
"Put your hands on her," I growled, my eyes closed. I don't think they've ever seen me like that and perhaps that's why they didn't hesitate. Once everyone was connected, I poured my power into her. Not even a minute later a wave of energy flooded me with so much force I stumbled back. Opening my eyes, I saw that the others felt it too. Alaric was unconscious by the looks of it---the power being too much for a human---but Cas, Marcus, and Kelen just seemed shocked.
"Mark her Marus," I commanded. He just blinked at me. "Just do it. That's why her neck was glowing when you were near."
"Don't," Kelen growled.
"Trust me on this I...I just know. Mark her." Marus looked between us both, unsure of who to follow. Usually it would have been Kelen, but the look in my eye implored him to trust me.
Making his decision, Marus nodded at me. In the same second he bit into June's neck, Kelen lunged. I tackled him before he could pull Marus off. We wrestled, but Kelen went limp when he realized it was too late. Another wave of energy sent us flying back. I collided with Alaric's shelf of trophies then rolled out of the way before I was buried in them.
When I was sure the whole thing wouldn't fall, I turned back to June. She was fucking floating, her hair flowing around her like waves. Her body glowed impossibly brighter, making me shield my eyes. After a moment, I looked back to see she was on the ground, no glow, no shaking.
"What the fuck just happened," Marus roared, his eyes wide and wild.
"The prophecy," Kelen muttered, glaring at me.
"The what?"
"The prophecy," I reiterated, walking over to June and picking her up. I ran my fingers down her cheek gently, then kissed her lips softly. "It has begun."
