Chapter Five

Hadin.

I am pacing the hall of the frat house waiting for Jessica to come over or for Raymond to call me and tell me he's in Farmington. All I can think about is the loud bang when Maddie took the phone from Sara. She sounded so scarred. Fuck why didn't I see this coming. Maddie always had it out for Sara. I am lost in my thoughts when the door opens and Jessica enters into the frat house. Cole stands up from sitting on the stairs.

"Hey. What's going on?" Jessica asks as she shuts the door.

"Sara's missing." I tell her.

"What?" She asks. "Wait did Connor-" Jessica asks.

"Kind of, Maddie and Liam kidnapped her and are taking her to Connor." I tell her.

"What?" She looks shocked. "That's not, no Liam wouldn't do that!" she yells at me.

"Then why did Sara answer Maddie's phone when Cole called it?" I yell back.

"What do you want from me?" she looks at me tears in her eyes.

"Where would they tell Connor to meet them?" I asks her. "I know they live in Windham but that would be too far for them to travel. Where would they meet him?" I ask her.

"Um," She wipes her tears away. "They have a vacation house." She says.

"Where?" I ask her.

"It's about 20 minutes from Sugarloaf Mountain. In Carrabassett Valley" She says.

"What's the address?" I demand.

"2021 Hillside Road." She tells me. I walk past her towards the door. "Hadin." She says. "Don't hurt Liam, please." She begs me. I look at her. I can't promise that. I'm seeing red. I leave the house without another word and get in my truck. My phone rings as I start my truck.

"Hello?" I answer.

"I'm at Sara's apartment." Raymond says.

"I'll be there in two minutes." I tell him as I drive away.

As I pull up to the apartment building I see Raymond leaning against his truck. I take a breath and walk to him.

"I have a lead." I tell him.

"Oh yeah?" Raymond says.

"How much has Sara told you?" I ask him.

"I know everything Hadin." Raymond tells me.

"Okay. You can punch me later. Maddie and Liam, the others that were in the room when Connor showed up, took his second offer. They kidnapped Sara and took her to their vacation home in Carrabassett Valley, I have the address." I tell him.

"Let's go hunting." Raymond says as he takes his 30, 30 out of the truck. "Do you have anything?" He asks me.

"Do I have anything? That's a dumb ass question." I open up my tool box to show him a 9mm, 30'30 and a hunting knife.

"Show off." Raymond whispers.

"Let's get this over with." I say as I put his gun in the toolbox. We enter into my truck and I drive off. As we drive past the sign 'Leaving Farmington.' I take a breath.

I'm coming for you Sara. I'm coming.

As we drive down the road the GPS says it'll take an hour and thirty minutes to get there.

"So can I ask you a question." Raymond asks.

"I guess." I reply.

"Why the fuck did you do it?" He asks me. I assume he's referring to the job offer by Connor.

"I didn't think I'd fall in love with her at the time." I tell him.

"But you already had feelings for her. I could tell when you bumped into her that first day I dropped her off at Ashlynn's apartment." Raymond says.

"The feelings I thought I had, I thought I just wanted a one night fuck. I didn't want a relationship I don't normally do relationships. So breaking you two up didn't seam that hard of a issue." I tell him honestly.

"Wow you are a fucking moron." Raymond laughs. "I knew you'd hurt her somehow." Raymond tells me.

"I tried not to." I tell him. "I tried to call off the job when I started getting feelings for her. But Connor, he wouldn't stop. He wouldn't stop calling me offering more to my friends to get Sara to leave me and not trust me. It worked. Cole was a pro at it." I tell him. "I tried so hard to not have her find out. I feel in love with her." I finish.

"I love her still Hadin. I will fight for her." Raymond tells me.

"I wouldn't expect anything else Raymond. Just know I will be fighting for her too." I tell him.

"If this is going to work we need to trust and put our differences aside." Raymond says. "we both have the same goal. Save Sara." Raymond continues. "Can you do that? Can you push away you're hatred for me so we can save her?" He asks.

"I can. Can you?" I ask him.

"Already done." Raymond says as he looks out the window.

"Really? I mean I did fuck your girlfriend while she was with you." I laugh.

"And I will punch you for that after Sara's safe." Raymond says on a laugh.

"Fair enough." I agree.

As we drive another hour the GPS tells us we are about 1 mile away from our destination. As we pull down that one way road with one house at the end of the street we pull over a towards the middle of the road. As we get out we walk to the back of my pick up and grab the guns from the tool box.

"You do know we are going up against someone that Sara's been running away from for years." Raymond tells me.

"Um, yeah I know." I snap sarcastically.

"So when we go in there. Let's do our hardest to kill the fucker." Raymond tells me.

"I can get on board with that." I agree as I take out a bottle of whiskey from my tool box. I take a shot from the bottle. "For Sara." I say as Raymond takes it and takes a shot as well.

"For Sara." Raymond repeats. "Let's kill this fucker."Raymond says as we both start walking towards the house just in our sights.
