A vampire?
You closed your eyes for a moment, letting it sink in. How was this even real?
Finally, you speak. "Why are you telling me this?"
Edward glances at Alice.
"Alice can see the future and.. she saw you. She knows you'll know eventually so, it was better to tell you now in a more.. controlled environment."
You raise an eyebrow. It was all sounding so crazy, you couldn't help but wonder if they were making it all up.
"Please just, come to dinner tonight at my house. We can explain it all there."
"Dinner I.. you're going to eat me?"

There was a silence, before a loud laugh interrupted the quiet. It was Edward. He doubled over, a grin plastered on his face.
"Are you serious? Of course not. Just, come to dinner. They'll be no blood or anything like that. I swear."
You hesitate, but nod. How could you say no?

As the day wrapped up and you headed home, you felt like a ghost. Nothing felt real anymore.
You went straight to your, and tumbled onto your bed.
A vampire. A... vampire. A vampire.
You let out a laugh. "This is absurd."
You wondered what dinner would be like. Oh shit! Dinner!
In a whirl, you ran into the bathroom, turning on the shower and fumbling through the vanity for a curling iron. After throughly sudsing your hair and shaving your legs, you peel out of the shower and throw your hair up in a towel. Practically flying to your room, you scramble to find something to wear.
Your eyes slowly move to the long floral skirt your mom had packed you. With a scowl, you give in and put it on, knowing it was probably the best bet for tonight. Pairing it with a black cropped sweater, you run back to the bathroom, drying your hair and curling it. After throwing on your trashed doc martins and dousing yourself in perfume, you grabbed your keys and headed out the door.

Alice had somehow gotten your number, and sent you a text with her address. As you drove down the forested, twisty road, you couldn't help but wonder if you were driving yourself to your own death. Or a castle.. or a dungeon.
But as you arrived at the beautiful modern house, you quickly realized quite the opposite was true.
"This is the nicest house I've ever seen.." you mumble to yourself, parking your car in what you guessed was a reasonable spot on the side of the road. As you walked towards the house, it loomed tall over you, as did the conversation you were about to have.

You walked up to the door, reaching out a hand to knock. Before you could, the door was open, and there was Alice. She gleamed, smiling. "Welcome! Come in, come in!"
She was so bubbly, it was hard not to smile. It took the edge off of things. You gaped, looking around the house.
"Alice, this.. your place is beautiful.." you trail off, taking it all in. She smiles, taking your coat, and grabbing your hand.
"Come on, dinner is almost ready!"
She leads you up the stairs. There in the kitchen, the whole family was prepping dinner. You couldn't help but stare. They were all so beautiful..
Alice grinned. "Rosalie suggested Chinese Takeout-"
"-but we couldn't miss the chance to make a real, homemade dinner." A man finished. He was tall, with very blonde hair. He was handsome, and seemed kind. He wasn't alarming, and you were thankful for that.
"My name is Carlisle. This is my wife Esme."
The woman tossing the salad stopped and smiled, murmuring a quiet hello.
"This of course is Rosalie and Emmett," the brooding couple towered over the rest, but when Emmett tossed up a peace sign, you let out a small chuckle.
"I see you already know Alice and Edward...."
he paused. "...and Jasper."
You glance up. There he was. He was dressed nicely, and his pale skin accented his light hair. His eyes though.. they were darker than usual. Hadn't they been gold before? You shrugged off the thought, slowly prying your eyes away from him.
By doing this, you realized with a jolt of self-conscious jitters, that everyone was starting at you. Like they knew something you didn't.
"I think we better sit down and.. talk for a bit." Carlisle said with his shiny smile, reaching out a hand for you to take. He lead you to the living room, and you sat down, glancing between him and Edward, who sat right next to Carlisle.
Alice sat in the love seat next to them, and Jasper lingered farther away, by the window. He wouldn't look up, and that bothered you. Why was he so persistent on being so distant?
Just as you started to get anxious again, that odd calm washed over you again. It was as if it wasn't even voluntary.
Carlisle clears his throat. The rest of the family perch nearby, and Emmett and Rosalie exchange glances.
"Well (y/n), as you know by now.. we are not," he hesitated. "Like you."
You hear a snicker from Emmett. "No shit." He murmured under his breath, but quickly dropped the smile when Rosalie smacked him lightly in the ribs.
Carlisle shot them a glance, before continuing.
"We are.. different than most of our kind." The way he said the word 'different' seemed to hang in the air. You nod slowly, not following. "We don't drink human blood." You wince at the word blood. The whole idea of it seemed foreign.. and quite frankly a bit disturbing. "We only hunt animals."
You let your eyes drop to the floor.
"How many are there of.. your kind?"
Carlisle glances over at his wife. "In Forks.. there is just us." Somehow, that was relieving. You weren't ready for your world to be changed that much.
"But you see, why we are telling you this.." Carlisle tilts his head towards Alice. "Alice sees the future. And, you were in it."
Your eyes jerk up. "What?"
"We don't know why yet.. but you'll play a significant role in our lives soon.." he murmured, his voice getting quieter and quieter.
"C-could I get some water?" You manage to squeak out. Maybe the cold would help your head. Jasper nods, walking out of the room. You can hear the faucet in the room next to you.
Everything was incomprehensible. Finally, you bite your lip and mumble, "I don't understand."
Edward rolls his eyes, and Rosalie lets out a very loud sigh.
"Of course she doesn't." Edward hissed through his teeth. "This is absurd. The fact that we are even having this conversation-"
"-is needed because clearly we know that her and Jasper are meant to me. Alice saw it, shes not wrong." Carlisle countered.

Those last few sentences stunned you. Your eyes widened, and your breath caught in your chest. Meant to be..? You opened up your mouth to speak, but no words came out. Suddenly it all made sense. The fact that you couldn't get his name.. his face out of your head. It all clicked into place.

"But clearly Jasper can't even control himself around her, and he's already unstable. The last thing we need is for him to kill her, or worse, break the treaty." Edward snarled, glaring at you. Clearly, he wasn't used to change. He saw you as a threat.
But.. kill you?
The next sound to be heard was broken glass. Everyone glanced up at Jasper, who had just walked back into the room. The glass of water he had gotten for you was now shattered into shards in his hands. He let them fall to the floor with more chiming noises.
Edward looked stunned. "You didn't tell him?" He whispered, glancing at Alice, and then Carlisle. Her face went red. Carlisle looked down.
"No." Jasper answered through gritted teeth. "Nobody told me anything."
With that, he was gone. It stunned you, how angry he seemed to be.. how.. disgusted he seemed to be.
"I told you this was a terrible idea!" Rosalie jested, motioning as Edward got up and ran after Jasper. "Carlisle, we just violated the law and for what? This measly little human? All because her and Jasper are supposed to what.. fall in love? Why does that even matter?" She snarled. The words cut deep into you.
You sat there, absolutely stunned. You were sure that if someone blew on you, you'd fall right over like a leaf.
"Clearly (y/n) is important to Jasper, and therefor is important to us. We cannot decide who is family, but she is now. And we need to welcome her in." Carlisle says forcefully, before glancing at you. Alice did as well, squinting.
"(Y/n)? You don't look so good." She said in a worried tone. You couldn't reply, but definitely agreed. Things were starting to blur.. fuzzy patches showed up in your vision. It was all too much. A complete overload of information. "Carlisle.. I think she's going to faint!"

The world went black.
