You woke up with a headache. Stumbling down to the kitchen in a sleepy daze, you flicked on the sink faucet, filling a glass up with water. Leaning against the counter top, you let the cold water bring you to your senses.
The weather outside today was stormy. It would almost feel like it was night if not for the clock that read '9:32 am.'

"Good-morning sleepy head." Jasper appeared from the living room, walking over to you. He pulled you in, kissing your hair and your forehead softly. He cradled you there for a moment. Though he was ice cold, you could swear in that moment he felt as warm as ever. Being held by him was the most comforting thing in the world, and when he pulled away it instantly caused you to make a face.
He chuckled softly. "Oh come on, we have a big day planned. We're going to play some baseball."
A glint shone in his eyes, his crooked smile slightly more mischievous than usual.
"Baseball? Since when do you play baseball?" You retort, finishing off your glass of water and plunking it down in the empty sink.
Jasper pretended to look hurt. "There's a lot of things you don't know about me." He teased, flicking your chin slightly with the top of his pointer finger. You made a small 'tsk' noise in response.
"I'm mysterious." He grinned, stepping back and spreading his arms wide like a magician on a stage.
You couldn't help but laugh.
"You're ridiculous. And.. in a good mood, which is nice." You remark. His smile wavers slightly.
"Yeah, I uh- I went hunting last night so I'm feeling.." he searched for the right words. "-a bit better."
You smiled. "Well I'm glad. It's nice. Now.. I'm going to go get dressed and such so-"
He interrupted you with a small kiss. Your eyes widened in surprise, apparently still not awake enough to keep your balance. It didn't matter though, he just scooped you up in his arms, your feet dangling a few inches from the floor.
Finally he put you back down, grinning.
A slow clapping could be heard behind him, and his smile dropped in confusion as he whirled around.
Emmett stood there with a giant amused grin across his face, clapping slowly.
"Hot. Just don't bite." He winked.
Jasper's mouth opened a bit, his hand playing with his hair in embarrassment.
You blushed, a bit embarrassed too, but couldn't help but laugh. Emmett did too, but at Jasper's slightly horrified expression.

After the kitchen incident and a hot shower, you were almost ready for the day. Jasper handed your some clothes that Alice had chosen for you (even though you brought your own) and waited outside of his room for you to change. It made you smile at how much of a gentlemen he was. Even though he was still a teenage boy at heart, his old-fashioned manners always shined through.
Buttoning up the pants Alice had given you, you took a step back to view yourself in the mirror. Taking in the outfit, you couldn't help but smile. It was obvious it was Alice's doing, because you'd never put it together yourself. But.. you had to admit it worked.
It was a pair of lighter washed jeans, and a pale green fitted top that was off the shoulder. "Alice, you've done it again." You murmur to yourself, before stepping back outside the room. Heading to the living room, you were surprised to see everyone there. Jasper came up behind you, placing one of his large jackets around your shoulder.
"Baseball time!"

You were brought to a large field. There was a waterfall nearby, and the thunder tumbled off of it like a cheers in a stadium. Jasper opened the door of the car for you, and you bit your lip to stop yourself from blushing. "M'lady."
You get out, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. Carlisle notices, and shoots you a small smile.
"(Y/n), you'll be our umpire for today." He instructed, and you nodded.
You could tell everyone was really excited, and in turn, it made you excited too. They weren't usually this laid back.. they were usually so cautious around you that it felt nice to see them in a more natural way. They felt more real like this. More... human.

Everyone went though their turns, and soon, Jasper was up to bat. He winked at you, tossing the bat up and spinning it around with impressive hand-work.
In truth, it was pretty impressive, show-off or not.
Alice grinned, tossing the ball towards him. A loud crack sounded as he hit it and blurred around the field. Before anyone could get far though, Alice froze, her eyes wide.
"STOP!" She called, and everyone froze. "Someone's coming." She finished, panic undertones audible in her voice.
Everyone instantly came rushing back, Jasper quickly standing in-front of you.
"What's going on?" You whispered, and he shook his head.
"I don't know. Someone's here- some-"
"Vampires." Carlisle finished.
They were closer now. You could hear their feet crunching a few stray leaves in the grass. Taking a quick glance past Jasper, only one thing stood out to you. Red.
Their eyes, the same color as blood. There was three of them, two males and a female.
Carlisle took a step forward as the main man held out the baseball.
"It seems you lost this."  He purred, tossing it Carlisle. Carlisle caught it with a tense grasp.
"Thank you."
After a few minutes of conversation, they decided to stick around for a game much to the Cullen's dismay.
Jasper backed you a bit, spinning around and clutching your arm tightly.
"Ow- Jasper-"
"Come on, we need to go now." He whispered. You glanced up at him, and instantly froze. He looked.. intense. There was no way to truly describe the expression on his face. His blonde, now windswept hair dangled wildly in-front of his face, casting shadows over his golden eyes. They had no trace of happiness in this moment, just a seriousness to them.
"Why leave so soon?"
It was the voice of the tall Blonde vampire, James. Jasper also froze now, his head slowly rising up. He turned back around, but before he could move anymore, Edward grabbed his shoulder.
"Don't make it worse. It's too late."
Jasper glanced at him, and you could tell by his clutched fist that he was enraged.
James walked up to him, shoving his hands in his jean pockets.
"No need to be tense. Just wanted to meet this little one over here."
He brushed past Jasper, knocking shoulders with him. And to your dismay, his eyes landed right on you.
The red irises seemed to burn a hole through you, as if they were really made of fire. You couldn't do anything.. you couldn't move. You could feel the panic rising in your chest, and yet, something told your feet to stay rooted where they were. Maybe this was why vampires were so deadly.. you never quite understood the power their presence had until you wanted to get away from them. Even though every inch of your skin prickled with fear, James' gaze held you in place as if his hands were clamped on your shoulders.
"And what is your name?" He purred, his head tilting to the side. "Are you dessert?"
Instantly Jasper was in-front of him, his hand inches from James' throat. You were glad he was facing away from you, because you were sure if you saw his face right now you'd scream in fear.
"I think it's time for you to leave now." Jasper said slowly, forcefully.
Carlisle and Edward were close by now too, and the rest of the family stood by the other two vampires cautiously.
Slowly, James turned around.
"I think it is too." Laurent, the main leader remarked. He grabbed James by his shoulder, tugging him along. They were soon gone.

Instantly, you could feel yourself starting to fall to the ground. Jasper caught you, holding you tightly. Calmness washed over you, and you were thankful for it, breathing deep into Jasper's chest. You were quite literally shaking like a leaf, and almost a shade of green like one too.
Jasper just held you for a moment, his eyes flitting to Edward. Edward just nodded in confirmation.
"He's going to come look for her."
Jasper's grip on you tightened. He cursed under his breath. "Not a chance."

You finally got back your willpower to speak. "W-whats going on?" You murmured as Jasper once more picked you up, placing you in the car.
"James is a tracker. And.. you're his next target." Carlisle said slowly. He spoke as if he was breaking some bad news of a sickness to a patient. But in this case, it was worse. This wasn't just bad news. This time, he was telling me I was on death's row.
The car started and Jasper quickly got in next to you, Edward in the Passenger seat infront of you. They speeded off.
"I don't understand.." you murmured, scared and confused. Everything was happening too fast.
Jasper looked down at you, his expression chilling.
"Nothing is going to happen. We are going away for a few days. That's all. We'll find James.. and kill him like the dirty rat he is."
His words made you shudder.
Jasper glanced at Edward. "You have.. something fast, right?"
Edward scoffed. "Of course I do." It came out serious too. Obviously, this was a big deal. A bigger deal than they were letting on.

Jasper clutched your hand. "It'll be alright, (y/n). I'm not letting him touch you..." he inhaled sharply. Obviously, he must really be alarmed. After all, he didn't actually need to breath. He only did so when he was really panicked. And so, noticing him doing it made your heart race faster. "His eyes will never get the chance to look at you again. And if they do.. I'll carve them out of his head." He whispered. Your eyes widened, and he noticed.
"I'm sorry.." he whispered, leaning down and clutching you close. "I just.. I can't lose you."
