[3rd Person POV]

4 months had passed since the death of Rengoku, Kyojuro...

And in those 4 months, Tanjiro and the others trained, went on missions separately and seldom together, and even grew as a person...

Inosuke got more reckless...

Zenitsu stopped whining all the time...

And Tanjiro...well, he got stronger...alot stronger...

The 3 butterfly children of the Estate made sure to keep them in tip-top shape and also made them make up for those days lost in recovering.

Tanjiro, sometimes, would train at night, leaving the others to rest in the medical ward.

And sometimes, he would notice Y/N, Tanjiro would always notice him sitting on the roof, looking up the sky with an expression that's uncommon to someone like him.

Tanjiro often acted like he didn't notice Y/N, since he'd be gone the moment Tanjiro stepped outside to train.

He wanted to get a whiff of his scent, but Y/N's scent manages to deceive his sense of smell, sometimes it'd be a smell of mischief, sometimes bad intentions...

...but, there was one time where Y/N was unnaturally inactive, and accidentally dozed off.

He caught a whiff of his scent, and it was the most intense scent of burden he had ever smelled...just...what is he carrying on his shoulders...?

The smell of guilt, grief, regret, and the feeling of not being good enough rolled into one...and Tanjiro only managed to catch whiff of it for a split second before Y/N rose from his sleeping position and disappeared, managing to replace the intense scent with a more light-hearted one.

Tanjiro can never forget that though...he plans to ask Y/N one day, but first, he needs to earn the liar's trust, as Tanjiro knows enough that Y/N isn't one to let his guard down.

"*sigh* I'm beat..."
Tanjiro panted as he had gotten back from a solo mission.

That's when he heard screams and cries over at the Butterfly Estate.

He became alerted and concerned, and didn't waste any time in hurrying over there.

"Let Go! I...I said-"

"You're too noisy, shut up."
Uzui Tengen, the Sound Pillar, shushed the demanding Aoi Kanzaki who obviously looked scared out of her mind, along with Naho Takada who was crying.

"Stop Please!"
Kiyo also cried along with Sumi who also tried to beg Tengen to let go of the two, or atleast, one of them

"Please let her go!"

Kanao stood there, quiet, sweating, unable to make decision, as she watched her friends get taken away by a higher-ranking Demon Slayer.

"K...Kanao!"
Aoi yelled out in a desperate attempt to get out of whatever Tengen's planning.

That's when Kanao began to think deeply on what she should do, should she decide by coin? But Tanjiro told her to follow her heart...

...and follow her heart, she did.

She began to tug and yank on Aoi and Naho's uniforms to try and pry them off of Tengen's arms.

"Kanao..."
Aoi spoke in a soft tone as she looked at her friend trying so hard for her sake.

"Miss Kanao..."
Kiyo continued to cry with Sumi as she said this

Kanao lacked the resolve to give more strength into what she's doing, and this left Tengen slightly irritated.
