Conan

The rumors were true.

That girl had something in her...

God, it was strong. Dangerous. Powerful.

And she was completely oblivious to it.

I had my doubts to whether it was true.

I was getting tired of this 'police man' act, and my brother was pissing me off.

He was still in the area, as far as I could tell, and was getting close to finding me.

And the other girl...

She was still unconscious when I left but I don't know how much longer my powers can work on her. She's unusually strong...

I was still in my police attire, walking down the sidewalk in the dead of night, nearing the location of the girl in the woods when I stopped cold.

I sniffed the air. The wind was still tonight, a full moon and an owl hooting nearby.

My eyes widened. Shoot-

Before I can turn and raise my fists, I'm slammed into the ground, body thrown into the woods. The leaves crackle and hiss as my face is pushed into the forest floor.

A solid, male weight pushing onto my back, I laughed and winced.

He was panting. I smiled and said,

"Hello, little brother."

.          .           .

Asher

"Hello, little brother."

I pushed my elbow farther into his spine, my black magic wrapping around his limbs and pinning him, while he tried to squirm away.

"Where's the girl, Conan?" I hissed in his ear, inner voice screaming for more pain, more violence.

I silenced it.

He laughed but then groaned as I tightened the pressure on his limbs.

"Easy, brother. We can talk. Now, get off." He growled, his power flickering under my grip.

I flinched the tiniest bit.

"Answer my question first. Where's the girl?" I smiled viciously, teeth flashing.

He grunted under my weight, and, under instinct, I loosed just a bit. He took it as his advantage and flipped me off.

I rolled on the forest floor, hissing from the impact but jumped back to my feet, bracing for a fight.

Conan was smirking at me from about 8 feet away, cheek already bruising and a sharp cut on his brow, leaking fresh blood. Panting, he crossed his arms, flinching at the pain no doubt sprouting in his side.

I, however, kept my hands at my sides. "Touché."

He narrowed his eyes at me.

"The girl, Conan." I was getting impatient.

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Oh?"

"I just got to town."

I raked my eyes down his police outfit, shaking my head. "You've been busy."

He smiled coldly at me. "Indeed. And so have you. What's that brunette's name? Quinn was it? Her family is quite nice. But I believe her eyes are so much better-"

"Watch it, Conan." I hissed.

But something sinked in.

"Wait, when were you with Quinn?"

His smile was slow and deadly.

My stomach dropped and my body turned cold.

"Conan when were you with-"

While I wasn't looking, Conan's power slithered around in the darkness and grabbed my ankles, flipping me unto the ground.

I slammed once again into the cold forest floor, knocking the air out of my lungs.

His power surrounded my senses, wooing me to sleep.

No!  My power hissed.

Conan hovered above me.

"Ouch! That looked painful." His power squeezed and my own squeezed back. He growled.

"Don't test me, Asher. I'm more powerful than you, always have been. Remember that."

My body ached. I tried to stand, and my power roared in defiance, but I'm just so tired.

Before I lost control of consciousness completely I heard him say one last thing.

"You can't protect her forever."
