Stay calm, stay calm, stay calm—
"AAAAHHHH!" I screamed as loud as I could as a heavy weight grabbed me and wrapped their hands around my waist, yet not fast enough to cover my mouth as I got out that scream for help.
Asher, Asher, Asher!
A man, I discovered, hissed realizing his mistake and covered my mouth before hauling me toward the back door as I kicked and flailed and pushed against my attacker.
My JRA crying out as my knees and ankles burned and a sharp pain shot through them.
Just then a darkness filled my house. A sort of rush of...rage or...
World ending fury.
My attacker cursed under his breath and hauled me over his shoulder like a sack of potato's before a force closed my mouth. A Deadly black entity that closed over my mouth like a gag.
I can't open my mouth! I can't speak or yell, I-I can't breathe I can't, I can't!
My muffled screams were only heard throughout the house as my attacker came out the door he had broken into, glass still covering the floor.
He walked quickly to his dark van, moonlight disappearing into the grey clouds.
HELP! I called out into my thoughts. As if someone could hear me. Help me.
Asher!
"Conan."
A cold, dark voice, called from behind us. My attacker stopped cold.
Conan?
I looked up from my attacker's back that, a few seconds ago, I was destroying with my fists.
Asher!
Asher...?
His wound was gone. The old blood on his t-shirt was the only thing left as the cut was sealed like it was never there.
His eyes... t-they were black. Solid black and... and his hands...they had swirling mist around them. As black as night.
He...he looked like a demon...
"Let. Her. Go." His voice was of another world. Icy, rumbling, deadly.
He didn't sound like Asher at all. He didn't look like the easy-going, annoying Asher I've seen. And yet...
I wasn't afraid of him. Not really.
My attacker laid me on the hard, concrete driveway, but the bonds of night stayed. Clasped my wrists and ankles. Yet it loosened and fell away off my mouth.
I gasped and found my voice again. I laid onto my side, viewing the standoff.
How can none of my neighbors be seeing this? No one heard my scream?
Is gram and Maurisa ok? Is this the man who took Kayla?
Asher's power loosened the tiniest bit, and his attention flickered to me.
"No one can hear or see us, Quinn. There's a barrier around the house."
Hearing him speak to me like that made a shiver go down my back.
But...
Can he hear my thoughts?
My attacker—Conan, I guess, shook his hooded and masked head.
"You overstep your bounds, brother."
Brother!?
Asher was unfazed.
