IV. Of Slayers & Aliens
LIZ PARKER STIFLED A blood curling scream when she came face to face for the first time since she went out on patrols with the ugliest blood sucking fiend that soon disintegrated to a pile of dust right before her very eyes. She was both thankful and disgusted that she inhaled vamp ashes, but she was more thankful that she didn't become the now staked vampire's next meal.
Faith cocked an eyebrow at the doe-eyed young woman out on patrol with her. Liz Parker was no potential slayer by any means, but she knew how to defend herself with that nifty electric currents she makes at will. She said she began showing that particular power before she and the five other people that came to Sunnydale via an old, beat-up school bus, were out of high school in Roswell, New Mexico. It was the reason why the six of 'em were on the run in the first place; the feds were after them.
Apparently three out of the six of them weren't exactly one hundred percent human. When further prodded by Giles to tell them exactly why they sought their help in deflecting the FBI's nationwide search for the six of them, they all finally caved and admitted that Max, Michael and Isabel were half humans and half aliens; they were the pod children from the crash back in 1945 in Roswell.
It was far fetched, but considering they were dealing with demons and vampires in Sunnydale, having somebody claim they were of alien descent wasn't that far off the grid.
"If you're going to keep on being all girly-girl on patrol, I'll leave you in the house with Willow and the others," Faith threatened. "I think Isabel is a far better companion than you," she added and eyed the petite brunette.
Liz glared at the haughty Slayer -- according to what was explained to them upon their arrival and initiation to the small group camped out at the Summers household, Faith was the second oldest slayer to survive; apparently slayer life expectancy span to barely 18 years of age then they die due to their line of work.
"I wasn't expecting that vamp to jump out of nowhere," she justified.
Faith cocked an eyebrow. "Whatever, dude. Next time a vamp ambushes you, you're on your own."
"But I am not a potential!" Liz insisted and followed the other woman.
"Do I care? You insisted on coming on patrol with me. You're old enough to take care of your own hide. Besides, didn't you say you have some alien powers?"
"Uh-huh," Liz nodded meekly.
"I say use it and save your ass."
