Chapter 12: Are They Safe

Jake's POV:
I woke up and saw Leo sitting up on the bed.

"What's wrong, Baby?" I tiredly said, sitting up.

"Nothing, I'm just excited for this appointment." He responded, getting off the bed.

"What time do we need to be there?" I asked, getting out of bed.

"The appointment is in about 40 minutes." He said, walking towards the closet.

I followed him into the closet and we both grabbed clothes and got dressed. Once we were dressed we got in the car and went to the doctor's office.

Leo went to the front desk and told them his name. After he was signed in he came and sat next to me. We waited about 5 minutes and they called us in.

Leo's POV:
We walked into the room and saw a nurse. We sat down and she asked me a few questions about how I was feeling. Once we were done talking, she sent the doctor in.

"Hello! Is this the other father?" The doctor said as she sat down.

"Yes, I'm Jake." He said, shaking her hand.

The doctor looked over at me and asked, "Do you think anything changed since the last time I saw you?"

"I have been more nauseous and I think I have gained weight." I responded, blushing.

"I would like to measure a few things and then we can check on your babies." She said, smiling.

"Ok." I commented.

"Can you step on to the scale?" She politely asked.

I got up and walked over to the scale. I hesitantly stepped on and waited for a number to pop up. Once I saw the number I felt insecure, because I had gained about 15 more pounds. I stepped off after the doctor wrote it down.

"You can lay on the table and pull up your shirt." She said.

I laid down as Jake walked over to me. We held hands and waited for her to put the gel on my stomach. It was cold but I wanted to see my babies so I didn't mind it. She showed us our babies on the screen and let us hear their heartbeats.

"They look healthy, but they seem a little bigger than they should be at this stage." The doctor commented.

"Are they going to be ok?" I worriedly questioned.

"They should be fine, but we should check on them a little more frequently to make sure they are growing at a safe pace," she calmly explained, "but if you feel like they are changing you can call to set up an appointment."

"I hope that we don't need to call you." Jake said.

"Do you two have any questions?" She said, looking at us.

"When can we know their genders?" Jake asked, turning towards her.

"In about 2-3 months we should be able to tell their genders. But it might be sooner from how fast they are growing." She responded.

Jake's POV:
The gel was cleaned off of Leo's stomach and we got ready to leave. We drove to Leo's place and went inside. Once we laid on the bed I cuddled Leo and we started talking about what we learned.

"Do you think our babies will be ok?" Leo asked, starting the conversation.

"I'm sure they will be fine." I responded, rubbing his belly.

"I know, but what if something does happen?" He worriedly comments.

"I wouldn't let anything happen to our babies." I stated.

"P-promise?" Leo asked, starting to cry.

"Promise." I replied.
