"Will you ever come find me?
Will you ever come find me?
Will you ever be mine?
Need you now, oh hold me closer
Need you now, oh hold me closer
Stop the wheels of time"'I passed out?', I asked Yomi, who was drenched in his own sweat and trying to steady his fast shallow breaths.
'You heard me right', he said lowly, his eyes still on me.
'What happened over the phone?. What did the girl say?. Wh.....', I shook my head and looked into his eyes.
'She has no ring around her fingers anymore. She.... she re... rem..oved it....', I whispered to him with a ripped and shattered heart and a broken voice. Yomi widened his eyes and mouth in unison, looking at me dumbfoundedly.
'It's over Yomi!. I've lost her!. She has left me....never to return again...', I continued to blurt out non-stop, looking down vainly at the rug, spread on the floor surface, in between the couches with a sharp pain eating me up in my chest as the words slowly escaped my vocal tract.
Everything blurred, it felt like time stopped, and clocks stopped ticking, and the air stopped blowing, and there was an eclipse, which made everything dark and dull, and my heart stopped beating and quit pumping blood. I felt like I was beaten up so bad, my whole body hurt badly and ache at the same time, and my face felt swollen and out of shape.
My breaths quickened, and my nostrils weren't letting enough air in, and the air I managed to inhale were stuffy and hot that they suffocated me. My throat dried up and got narrow. Sharp monotonous sounds echoed loudly in my eardrums and my head began throbbing hardly, making my head ache.
My whole figure felt numb and painful and hot, and I just remained sitted there, stagnant, dumbfounded and defeated, for only God knows how long.
'JIREH!!!!', I heard Yomi yell from opposite me and I snapped up, back to reality.
'Uhmm?', I hummed and raised my heavy eyes to look at him.
'I been don dey call you since, wetin you dey think? (I've been calling on you for a long time. What are you thinking about?)', he asked me concerned.
'She... Ann... My..', he stood up and came to sit beside me;
'No think am, everything go soon set. I know say wifey no fit look you for eye say she no do again, no dey think too much. Make them come back first. (Stop worrying about it, everything will be fine soon. I know Ann can't look you in the eyes and give up on your relationship, stop over thinking. Let's wait for their return)', Yomi assured me, as a friend, and I did nothing but shake my head in disagreement.
'Wetin?. You wan call again?. Make I call the sister again, so you go talk?. Abi you wan make I talk to her? (What is it?. Do you want to call her again, so you talk to her?. Or do you want me to call her and speak to her myself?)', Yomi asked and I nodded in agreement, wiping tears away from my cheeks with the back of my hands.
'That one na small thing. I go call, but promise say you no go cry again. And you no go dey do like woman (That's an easy task. I'll call her, but you have to promise me that you won't cry anymore. And you'd stop acting childish)', Yomi said, asking for my promise.
I raised a brow at him along side a nodd and he dialled a number. I lowered my head into my palms and my heart beat fastened as I awaited. We both waited. On who he called.
