Faye closed her eyes and stood up. "Mother please! I have to see her. She's Ill and Alice is your granddaughter! Don't you care?"
Faye's mother held up her hand. "I care about this business. If anything happens to that little monster you're having another. And if I were you I could want to run around telling people about them. The father isn't even in the picture. You're lucky I kept you around. You put quite the blemish on my name Faye." She snapped. "Now go. The meeting is waiting for you and you know how your father hates to wait. Especially on you."
Faye clenched her fists and turned on her heels. She walked out of her mothers office and slammed the door behind her. She pulled out her phone and called her younger sister. "Adria it's not use. She simply will not budge."
"Faye she needs to be at hospital. She's lost all colour and she has nothing in her system. She won't keep down her medication. All she does is cry and scream for you." Adria said.
Faye closed her eyes. "I can't just leave. This meeting today rides on my hands." She said softly.
"Fine. Fine! I'll find a way to get you out of there. Don't worry." Adria said and hung up.
Faye let out a deep breath and walked to the business meeting. She pushed the doors open and plastered on a smile. "Sorry I'm late. Let's see what kind of offers we have in store today shall we?"
The meeting had lasted for hours. Each minute that rocked by left her with more anxiety then the last. She raised her eyebrow. "Excuse me? I do believe I just got an offer from Anderson's company yesterday. This simply will not get you what you would like." She said and crossed her arms.
The business man was a short sweaty man. He dabbed at his face with his tie and swallowed. "I-I'm Sorry m-ma'am the boss told me t-that this was a-a-all I could offer." He stuttered and swallowed hard again.
Faye stood up. "Very well. What you have told me is promising. I'll have to take that into consideration when-"
The doors flew open. Her mother stood straight. "This meeting is over. Everyone leave."
Everyone obeyed but Faye and her father.
Her mother slammed the door shut. "Adria has been rushed to the hospital. Seems she was watching over your little vermin and burned herself severely making her precious meal. You," she turned to Faye harshly. "Go home to deal with your demon. Your father and I will see to Adria." She snapped.
Faye felt her heart skip a beat and she walked to the doors. Letting them shut behind her. She quickly walked through the main hall and down the large steps of the entrance. She walked to her car and drove to her family's large home. She stopped The cat in the large garage and ran into the house to her daughters room.
A maid stood by the door uneasy. "There's blood miss."
Faye pushes past her and entered her daughters room. She walked over to her daughters bed. Alice was heaving and covered in blood and bile. She had absolutely no colour. Faye lifted her daughter into her arms and pressed her lips to her temple. "Mommy's here." She said softly and grabbed a blanket. She wrapped it around Alice's tiny body and walked to the door. "How high was her last fever?"
The maid shifted uncomfortably. "She was at 103." She whispered.
Faye said nothing and walked past the maid. She walked with power. Like her mother.
Faye walked outside and put her daughter gently in the backseat of the car. She got into the front and drove as quickly as permitted to hospital.
Faye parked and got out. She pulled her daughter back into her arms and quickly walked into the hospital.
The nurse at the main desk took one look at Alice and stood up. "Code pink. Fetch Dr. Maria! And get me a gurney!"
The nurse slipped Alice onto the gurney and Faye watched them push her daughter away. "We will keep you updated Ms. Reed." The nurse said. "But until we know what is wrong I'm afraid you'll have to stay out here."
Faye clenched her fists. She opened her mouth to speak but a voice interrupted her.
"You simply have to bring attention to yourself don't you!"
