"It's negative."
Faye let out a heavy breath and sat on the side of the tub. "Oh thank god." She said breathlessly.
Alexander set the stick down. "You wanted it to be negative?"
Faye buried her face in her hands and shook her head. "I don't know what I wanted it to be." She lifted her head. "I know you want to be a father but with Keren we've got a lot on our plates. And I'm not sure if we could handle another baby right now."
He sighed and at on the ground in front of her. "I know you're right. I just hoped. Why wouldn't you have been having your cycles?"
Faye leaned on the counter. "I'll schedule and appointment for next week if I still haven't gotten it." She said and closed her eyes. "At least give it a few more months. Keren will be a year old and I'm hoping I'll have a better handle on the business by then." She said softly. She got down on her knees and cupped Alexander's face in her hands. "You are already an amazing father. And you'll be An amazing father when we have children. I'm sorry the results weren't what you wanted but everything happens for a reason."
He nodded and kissed her forehead. "I know. I know." He repeated. "Let's get to bed." He said and walked out of the bathroom.
She sighed and looked at the stick on the counter. She slumped down and looked at the ground. "Everything happens for a reason."

The next few weeks were stressful. Keren had started to walk more and that meant Faye and Alexander has to baby proof the entirety of their house.
His mother had moved in and she was making herself quite clearly the women of the house.
With all Faye's business struggles she didn't have The energy to fight back anyhow.
Faye ran after a diapered Keren. "You need to get dressed for mommy." She said and held fresh clothes.
Alexander scooped her into his arms. "I gotcha!" He said and tickled her tummy. Keren giggled.
Faye handed him the fresh clothes. "Finally. She acts just like you." She said and sat down.
"She's stubborn like you." Alexander said and slipped fresh clothing into Keren.
Faye rolled her eyes. "Oh no. She definitely acts like you. She's your double." She said and pulled Keren into her arms. "It's bring your daughter to work day. Can I brush your hair?"
Keren shook her head and pushed away. Faye laughed. "Fine! Fine I won't." She said. "You'll look adorable either way."
Alexander kisses Faye's forehead. "That she gets from you."
Faye smiled and walked to the door. "Ready to go?"
Alexander grabbed them diaper bag and nodded. "Ready if you are."
Faye opened the door. "I'm always ready." She said.
     "Off we grow!" Keren said.
Alexander followed them both outside. "Just like her mother."
