Faye sat at her desk. Her head was pounding and the heat was unbearable. The ac had shut off.
A knock on her door made her look up. "Come in." She said and straightened her posture.
Alexander walked in. "How are you doing?" He asked.
Faye shrugged. "My head is killing me. Had the AC company called back?" She asked and leaned back in her chair.
Alexander sat down in the chair across from her and shook his head. "Not yet."
Faye sighed and looked down. "Will you go to their company? If we don't get it fixed I'm going to have to close the business tomorrow. And that's not a great idea." She said softly.
Alexander stood up and walked over to her. He kissed her forehead. "I'll be back in an hour or so. Don't overwork yourself." He said and left the room.
Faye watched him leave. She closed her eyes and rested her head against her chair.
She didn't think she would have dozed off but she woke up to her door flying open.
She jumped and shot out of her chair. "Excuse me?"
A man grabbed her by her shirt. "Mrs. Reed. A pleasure. Do you have my money?"
Faye held her breath. She looked at the man. Fear in her eyes.Alexander walked into the building. He looked at one of the workers. "Did Faye go home for the day?" He asked.
"She left fifteen minutes ago." The person said. "What did you find out about the AC?" He asked.
Alexander shook his head. "No word. I think we'll have to shut down until I get word of when they can come and do the repairs." He said. "I'm sending everyone home early today. Can you spread the word?" He asked.
The person nodded. "Will do sir. Have a great day." He said.
"You too." Alexander said. He waited until everyone left and he then made his way home. He got out of the car once he arrived and walked inside.
Adria looked up from the couch. Keren sat beside her asleep and the baby was in her arms asleep as well. "Where's Faye? I would have thought you two would have come home together."
Alexander raised his eyebrow. "I was told she went home hours ago." He said.
Adria shook her head and frowned. "No. I haven't seen her." She said.
Alexander frowned and pulled out his phone. He called her. It went straight to voice mail. He looked at Adria. "She's not answering her phone."
Adria stood up. "Alex, do you think this has something to do with the message you read on her phone?"
Alexander shook his head. "She said not to worry. That it happens all the time." He said.
Adria shook her head. "What if this time, we should have worried?"
