"Kongpob, are you fine there dear?"

Kongpob stiffened at the question asked from the other side on the phone.

Kongpob looked at his wrist which had red marks on it from gripping tightly for too long.

Kongpob covered his mouth, trying to not let out any sniffles.

"I...I'm fine Mom, it's already been two years since I got married to P'Simon why are asking the same question every time I call you?" Kongpob asked, he tried his best to control his emotions, he didn't want his mother to get worried.

"I know, I know son. It's just that every time I call you I feel something is off. Maybe I'm just worried for you. I might be missing you a lot," the woman chuckled from the other side making Kongpob's heartache.

"You're soo much attached to your husband that you forgot your poor Mom. The last time I saw you was when you came back from the honeymoon trip," Kongpob's mother chuckled.

A sob escaped from Kongpob's lips, "I'm sorry Mom."

"Hey, Mom was just joking, okay? I know you're busy taking care of Simon and helping him in his work at the same time. Mom just misses you, I want to hear my son laugh, not cry."

Kongpob chuckled as he wiped his tears from the corner of his eyes.

"Well, how is April?" Kongpob's mother asked.

"She's doing well mom. She's having her exams now, she's entering high school next year. She has grown soo fast," Kongpob smiled, all his worries washed away as he spoke about April.

"I'm happy that you got a man like Simon. Even after knowing about April he still agreed to be with you. He really loves you."

The smile on Kongpob's face fell as he heard his mother's words. He sighed. If only his mother knew what was happening here. Kongpob is just glad that Simon doesn't behave to April indifferently.

Kongpob just wants April to be safe, even if he had to endure all the torturing his husband gives him, if April is safe and happy he's ready to take in anything.

"So tell me, will we get to be grandparents again?" The elderly woman asked from the other side with an excited voice.

Kongpob straightened his back. Having a child is still a dream for him. But if he's having a husband like Simon, he wouldn't dare have a child. He doesn't want to drag that poor soul into this hell.

"Mia! Come on!"

Kongpob heard a shout from the other side of the phone, he chuckled when he imagined his father glaring at his mom and his mom pouting back at him.

"What? I was just asking, Jake," his mom replied back casually at her husband.

"Ok ok, I'm going to hang up, P'Simon will come soon," Kongpob said.

"Okay dear, love you."

"Love you too, mom."

Kongpob hung up. He sighed as he placed the phone near the nightstand.

He tried to get up from the bed he laid on, he winced at the throbbing pain in his lower region. Kongpob stumbled towards the bathroom to wash his face.

Kongpob splashes cold water on his face from the tap and winces a little when he felt a slight burn in his lips.

Kongpob lifted his heads up, his lips were clotted in blood at the corner from too much biting. His left cheek had a bruise.

Kongpob touched his face with his soft hands, when was the last time he had smiled with his heart? He didn't remember.

Staring at his face in the mirror brought memories of the previous night making him shudder in fear.
