Chapter 3 Noah

I spent a restless, night in my trailer, thinking about the whole kiss thing. It was weird, but I decided it wasn't a huge deal. It was just one kiss, no making out or anything like Finn and Millie have to do.

I was more distracted by the whole Dick- I mean Nick - thing. For some reason I couldn't stop thinking about them. I didn't know why. Sure I was overprotective when she had been with Jacob but it's not like I was angry about that relationship just cautious.

Nick's not any worse of a guy than Jacob but something makes me despise him. How does he even know her? I've know her for much longer. Not that that means anything but I'm just saying.

The next morning, I got ready, ate breakfast at the buffet trailer (yes they have one of those and its amazing) and finally made my way to the table read.

***

"Alright let's begin. Episode 6." Ross yelled.

David started reading his lines.

We only had to read three episodes and it went by quickly. I zoned out a bit and Caleb had to keep hitting me.

When Millie and I had to read the kissing scene it was really awkward but we got through it despite the smirks and childish giggles from the other kids. Who are like 17 and still giggle.

I had to admit though, the Duffers were right. The kiss made sense. I just had to remind myself that it was just acting. And like Finn pointed out, it would probably piss off Nick.

Could I really kiss my best friend though? I mean its not like I haven't thought about it, but I don't find Millie attractive. I mean I do... she is attractive by I don't ... Jesus what am I saying she my best friend.

After we finished the table read, Everyone cheered and some people shook the Duffer's hands. I saw a few people crying, it was a sad ending but I wasn't worried about that. I whispered to Millie and she followed me outside.

It was getting dark already. Reading the three episodes had only taken a few hours but we took a long break for lunch so it was almost 18:00 (6pm). There was a little sliver of light to the west still.

"It's a pretty sunset." Millie said, reading my mind. I smiled back at her and nodded my head.

Since it was cold out, we went to my trailer to talk. Once inside, where it was warm, Millie sat down on the couch. It was a little awkward. We hung out all the time, often alone like this but it was never a problem... I mean we're best friends why would it be. Still I froze for second trying to decide if I should sit next to Millie or not. She saw me hesitate and rolled her eyes.

"Come on Schnapple." She said, pulling me onto the couch beside her.

"So..." I said, "what do you think?"

"I don't know." she said, looking around the trailer. "It's nice but I wish it wasn't such a bland color. Maybe if..."

"I meant about the kiss thing Millie." When I looked at her she was smiling.

"I know, I know. I was just kidding. I wanted to lighten the mood. I feel like we've been a little out of sync the last two days."

I nodded.

"And I'm sorry about the whole Nick thing. I shouldn't have shown him the set I just wanted to impress him I guess."

"It's not that Millie. I just..." I fumbled with my words trying to think of how to say it. Heck, I didn't even know what it  was.  "I guess I just don't understand why you didn't tell me about him. That's the kind of thing best friends normally talk about."

"I'm sorry." Millie whispered. "Really, I am. I guess I just thought it wasn't a serious relationship and you didn't need to know."

I nodded but didn't believe her. She usually texts me every time she so much as meets another boy.

"It's okay Mills. Let's move on."

"Yeah. Sounds good."

We obviously decided the kiss was fine. I mean, it's not like we were ever going to say no or anything, but I think we needed to at least talk about it before saying yes.

We left my tailer and headed back to tell Matt and Ross the good news. We found them both talking to Cara Buono. When they saw us, they quickly ended the conversation and came over. I felt bad for Cara but at the same time it made me feel important.

They reached us and simultaneously put their hands in their pockets. Twins (insert eye roll). Ross spoke up. "Did you guys... uh..."

Jesus they were awkward sometimes. They were also geniuses though.

"Yes." Millie said, cutting off Ross's stuttering. "We will do the kiss when the time comes."

"Oh that's great. Thank you both. That's a very professional and mature decision." Matt said. "Make sure you're ready because we are filming that scene next week."

"What?!" Millie and I said at the same.

Finn appeared out of nowhere "Sounds like someone didn't pay attention at the table read."

"I did." I said quickly.

"So did I." Millie lied. I could always tell when she was lying.

"So you guys know that we are filming at set H near the quarry first?"

"Yes." This was actually true, I knew the first few days would be a lot of driving out the woods like season one.

"And since you both carefully listened to and  read the script on your own, like I did, then you obviously know that your scene happens at set H."

"Right." We said. (Total lie I think I was asleep for most of the table read.)

"I don't get it." I said

"Jeez you are thick." Finn said. "Set H is next week. The kiss is happening at set H. Can you put two and two together."

Why is it being called 'the kiss'? I find that weird.

"We're doing the kiss next week?"

"YES" Four people all yelled at me.

"Why did Finn have to explain that? I already knew that."

"No you did not!" Finn rebutted

"I totally did. you just told me."

Finn smacked his head. At this point I was just trying to mess with him.

"I hate you." Finn said, walking away and shaking his head. I smiled awkwardly at the duffers and then walked away as well.

So I guess the kiss is happening next week.
