At that precised moment, I wished I could kill Dozie. He stood there like the devil himself.

I raised my head up.
"What do you mean?" I asked angrily.

Dozie came closer "what do I mean? What are you doing with this guy?".

I hissed and placed my head on Timi's shoulders again.

Dozie gave us a last look before leaving.

"What's your cousin's problem?" I asked.

"Please don't call him my cousin" Timi lazily replied.

"But..."

"Shh,let me enjoy this movie" He interrupted 

In two hours time,the movie ended. I checked the time on my phone,It was a few minutes after two. Becca and the rest walked over to us discussing about the movie. The funny thing was that i didn't even know the name of movie.

As we exited the building, Timi pulled me back. "I wish I could spend more time with you but I have to go home early today".

"No problem. When have you having your next paper?" I asked.

"Tomorrow".

"Okay".

Timi held my hands and gently caressed my fingers "I..."

"Hmm?" I asked "you what?"

"I..."

"Anna let's go now!" Becca dragged me out interrupting whatever Timi wanted to say.

"Where are we going to?".

"Your house".

When we got home,my mom was laying on the couch in the living room. She looked up when she heard me enter.

"These your two legs cannot stay one place again abi?"

"Mummy..."

"Everybody keep telling me they saw you here,they saw you there. So because your dad has gone,you feel you are free to do whatever you want".

"But mummy I just stepped out not up to thirty minutes ago" I lied.

"So where were you when I came home two hours ago?" She asked.

I couldn't talk. Why was she so angry today?

"This your waka waka should stop today! You hear me?" She hissed and then went upstairs.

I threw glances at Juliet who was busy operating her phone. "What's wrong with mom?" I asked Juliet.

She shrugged "she has been angry since she came home today".

I sighed and walked into my room, Becca trailed behind me. She shut the door behind her and sat down on my bed.

I was feeling a little down. Why was wrong with my mom.

"Anna are you okay?"Becca asked.

"I'm just worried".

Becca smiled and patted my back. "So,what are you getting Timi for his birthday?"

I was thrown off by her question. "Timi's birthday?" I asked.

"Yeah next week Saturday".

I frowned "but he didn't tell me".

"Maybe it slipped his mind besides he told Michael he's not throwing a party this year" she said.

"Says who? When I'm here? We'll plan the party for him".

Becca jumped up "exactly what I was thinking but where? How?"

"I don't know, do you have any idea?" I asked.

"How about a pool party,we can use Royal Hotel as our venue. They have a really large pool and enough space for dancing" Becca replied.

"Great".

Becca stayed till eight pm and then she left. I was on my way to my room when I saw my mom sobbing in her room. She held her face in her palms as she cried.

I walked in quietly and then stood at a corner "mummy are you okay?" I whispered.

I couldn't see her face because she sat at one end of her bed and I stood at the other end. She wiped her tears but didn't turn "I'm fine".

I wanted to walk up to her and hug her,I wanted to ask her what was wrong and tell her everything was fine but I couldn't.

I nodded and left her room.

For days,my mom didn't really talk to us. She woke up very early, said little words to us and left for work,when she returned,she would go straight to her room. I heard her talking to Timi's mom on the phone one day and she mentioned dad so I was pretty sure that her being sad was because of dad. The question was what did he do?

I was bored.

Really bored through out the holiday. My routine hardly change. I woke up,bath,eat,go over to Becca's house or she would come over,spend the day together and that was it.

Finally the Saturday I anticipated got nearer. Well, it was really hard planning the party but thankfully by Friday we got everything settled.

I woke up quite early that morning. I woke up by seven am,the goal was to keep Timi busy still twelve pm when the party would start which I prayed wouldn't be hard.

In two hours time, I was at his doorstep, I knocked a few times before the door opened. It was Timi and he looked quite surprised to see me.

"Hi" I said waving with a big smile on my face.

"Hey, been a while" he replied and then opened the door wider "come in".

As I walked in,I began to wonder why Timi didn't tell me about his birthday. Like what was the big deal.

I sat on a single sitter and sighed "where's your mom?"

"Shop" he replied.

We talked and played cards for a while. We watched a nice movie and soon it was after eleven. I groaned as I stood up and stretched. "I want to ease myself" I excused myself and walked to the bathroom,where I called Becca

"Is everything ready? We're on our way".

Yeah yeah, you guys can come now.

I hung up, washed my face and then went back to the living room.

He looked up to me and smiled,and the smile melted my heart. I wish I could always feel as peaceful as I felt when I was with Timi. "I have something to show you".

"Really? What is it?" He asked excitedly.

"Its not here. Its a surprise let's go" I said as I dragged him towards the door bit before I could open the door,he pulled me towards him. His hands were on my waist and our face were inches apart.

I cleared my throat and stepped back.

In twenty minutes time,we got down from the bus. I walked towards the hotel but I looked back to see Timi. He stood akimbo.

"Come na"I whined.

"To where?" He said.

"Just come".

"Fine".

As soon as we got to the bar, everyone present shouted "Happy Birthday!!!!!"
