Timi
I felt nervous as I got dressed, it was the day I had been waiting for. For a moment I reminisced about the first day I stepped into secondary school. I remembered how scared I was, I remembered how I couldn't wait to graduate and here I was staring at my wine tuxedo suit I would wait any minute.
I couldn't really explain how I feeling. Yes, I was happy but somewhat sad.
"Hey Timi it's almost seven pm." My dad said as he entered my room. He accessed me for a few second."You're not even dressed. Why do you like going late to every event."
I massaged my temple,"I'm almost ready."
"I hear, just be fast so I can drive you to school."
I frowned, "No na, why do you want to drive me, I'll go by myself, or better still let me drive." I said the last part in a whisper.
"When will the event end?"
"By twelve."
"But why so late?"
"That's why it's called prom night." I whispered as I got dressed.
"Okay you can take the car but please be careful." My dad said finally giving in to my request.
I nodded,"Thanks."
"And as soon as the event ends, come home straight. Don't let me regret even allowing you go because if it was your mom you won't go anywhere."
"I've heard you oh."
As soon as my dad left, I called Michael.
"Howfar, you don ready?"
"Yes, I dey come your house. My dad say I fit take the car" I replied
"Okay Jesse dey here sef."
"Okay I dey come."
As I pulled over at Michael's gate, I saw them standing at a corner. Michael wore black jeans, a white hoodie and a white Nike sneakers alongside a durag on his head and Jesse was wearing something similar to his and I frowned a bit. Abi I don go overdress.
I got down from the car and signalled them over. Michael was on a call and Jesse wasn't smiling.
"Why your face be like that?" I asked Jesse as I turned back to enter the car. I wore my sit belt as soon as I was settled."This prom no go sweet." Jesse finally replied.
"But -" My phone's ringtone came blaring out interrupting me. I checked the called and I smiled.
"Hmm Baby." Michael said teasingly and I eyed him. "Shut up."
"Hey baby." I whispered trying to sound sexy but Anna just laughed.
"Baby?"
"Yes na, What's up?"
"Timi you played me abi, you told me to come to school but you're not here. See I'm already going home."
"Chill babe, I'm on the way, I had to pick my friends from their house but we're close to school already." I lied.
"Okay then, later na."
